Thread: Advanced Template question

I have already asked some knowledgable ppl but want to know other ppls experiences on this.


Question: Should I spend the points on learning the Swordsman defensive branch or go and learn the Fencer branch 0/0/4/0 (forgot the name, the def vs dizzy and blind)


Issue: I am trying to become very profecient in PvP and want to maximize my point useage. I am now looking for defenses.


Discussion: I am currently a Master Brawler, Master Pikeman, TKA 2/3/0/4, Fencer 4/4/0/0, novice swordsman and novice medic. I can spend the points remaining to get an entire branch from the Fencer or swordsman line. My main concern is being stuck on my back with dizzy and kd. I do have equilibruim at 30 and have def vs kd at 90 and my melee defense is 171. If I took the sword def line my def vs kd would be 105 but my def vs dizzy and def vs blind would be around 30 (very low) but my melee defense would go to 181. If I took the fencer branch I would raise my def vs dizzy and blind by 40 points to 70 for each but my kd would by 90 vice 105 and melee defense 171 vice 181. So, is the change in melee defense and def vs kd greater than the big increase in def vs blinld and dizzy? If my melee def is so high they will miss which means that state will miss too, right? Also, if they cant kd me cause my def vs kd is so high dizzy is not really a concern then, right? And finally, it seems there are several of the high end attacks that do lots of damage and have accompaning states that go with them. So if someone is spaming one of these attacks and dizzy is a state that accompanies it, I figure at one hit per second that state will eventually get through, right?

what's your defense vs. posture change? if you're dizzy'd, and someone changesyour posture either up or down, you'll fall down and be stuck on your back for a bit. also, what's your ranged defense. if you're dizzy, and someone just shoots suppression fire at you (master marksman move that lowers posture), same thing. but if your ranged defense is up, then you really don't have to worry too much about that. i'm also working on my template as well, and have been giving these aspects a lot of thought.

Also, my ranged defense is 149 and my def vs posture change is even higher than kd, it is over 100 now if I am not mistaken. I beleive it might actually be 115, need to confirm that though.

Not meaning to hijack the thread just a quick question. I'm now going for the meditation line on TKA, now will going say to the second box as opposed to going all four make a big difference? my main concerm is healing of wounds/bleed/poisons etc... Will only being 2 in the line be a handicap?


any thoughts or suggestions greatly appreciated

Just my thoughts on it:


Meditation - I'd master it if possible. If you only went to powerboost (med II) you'd be missing out on the very powerful Meditation IV

You can not heal wounds until med 4

if you have novice medic why do you need Med 4?


I rarely get hit so the only wounds I realy suffer are from disease from the rancors I fight. with novice medic i pop out my Stim B and heal my wonds. I save the other 5 skill points and used then for finish off the sword defense branch which gave me 15 to def vs kd and some to posture change and 10 to both melee and ranged def.


Only draw back is I cant heal mind wounds but it really doesnt seem to impact me as my mind pool is maxed anyway.

Roboute when you got back from the ns caves the other night you had a 'few' wounds that needed tended to.

That all came from Rancor disease and nothing more. The few health and action diseases where easily healed with my droid and woundpack Bs. My mind bar was black thanks to the STRONG mind disease i got, only time it has happened so far. However since my mind is normally at 1100 and goes higher with fishak and glucose and of course Muon. I didnt notice until i finally died at the hands of The NS boss mob and her protectors.
