I'm a poor Pikeman. My pikes are made by the members of my guild and i do fine with them

It's about having fun, if you can have fun with cool animations and hitting every 2-3 seconds then pikeman is a good choice. If you *must* hit every second with *uber* pikes then yes you will need a bit of money. Then again what's 6M for a +10 speedtape these days?

a +9 in speed is nice to have that's true

Our accuracy is not that horrible, I hardly miss in PvE anyway.

My crafted high damage-slicedpikes are easily good enough for PvE use. DOT weapons are way overpriced and way overrated, they don't belong in this profession, at least not in these numbers. It should be broughtmore in line with the DOT's for other professions. The DOT's are what made our profession so incredibly expensive. (And yes I will blame those things for nearly anything that is wrong with pikeman so no reason to flame me about it).

At least 90% of my time as a pikeman has been spent with less than 300k to my name. You don't need to be rich to be a good pikeman.

/agrees with the post above

You don't really need that much to be good Pikeman. I remember how I thought I was superb with my new DMG sliced Basic Lance and 100k on account.

Now I have few LVAs, VLs and even a bunch of Lances to give something to novice Pikemen, but none of them cost me anything. All my weapons are made by our guild WS. And I can say you - Pikeman is notsuch a horrible class. I can deal enourmous damage (well, sometimes ) and I can tank very good.

So no, you don't need enormous amounts of money.

If you truely seek uber weapons, all you have to do is hunt for them. Some might even say that if you're a true pikeman at heart, the weapons will somehow find you.

The life of a pikeman does not require wealth. All you need isdedication, determination, and a long metal stick.

Walk the path and don't expect it to be easy.

If you have good comp, enough for buffs and a LVA you can make money, loot pikes and be generally a happy little bunny. You dont need to cap speed, i do just fine without. In PvE you dont even notice accuracy problems. You dont need tapes to enjoy pike.

Before i picked up Ranger i had only a wee bit of terrain negotiation. I also had a 'walking stick' that gives me +11 TN. It really helps when you're walking across dathomir for example
