Then look here. You'll see the following:
Primary Role: Melee Opponent Control (Attacker Modifiers)
Secondary Role: Melee Crowd Control (Attacker Control)
So yes we're tanking, but we're also intended to be crowd control.
sense when does crowd control mean AOE? if you are able to take on several oppenents like the description describes you ARE crowd controlling, the whole crowd is on YOU!

The Pikeman specializes in controlling and tanking groups of opponents. In addition to a generally strong defensive ability the Pikeman has the ability to significantly reduce an opponent's combat ability. These defensive abilities combined with some good area attack capabilities make the Pikeman a strong combatant.
the crowd control comes from a combination of defensive abilities and some area attack capabilities
NOT several AOE abilities.
so in this description we are a secondary crowd controller, just not in the way you want it.

With this hate system I couldn't keep the whole crowd on me if I was coated in krazy glue.
Pikeman really dont have any form of agro any good range player will rip the mobs right off of us or healers 1 heal and you loose agro.
We need better AOE abilities.
Intimadate & Warcry should effect all those that mob us or are effected by our area spin assault.
Masterpike at Master level should have some form of Parry Rispote or Sword Flurry. Watch martial arts movies and think of someone spinning a polearm fast like a shield.
Leg assaults should act like a weak ROOT ability for defence. Think of how it feels to wake someone in the knee. Stun works well, but the opponent still moves.
I understand we are secondary at crowd control, but what if the cword we are controling is all ranged? We cant become good tanks if we are rooted and snared into the ground.
Also, elemental damage on weapons needs to be fixed.
