Pikes aren't intended to be the "ranged tanks". If you look at the "profession wheel" which SOE set up with the release of the CU, you'll see that TKA are the avoidance tank (though in reality they just get an innate armor and improved COB to soak up damage). Next in line for tanking are Pikes who are melee oriented tanks with debuffing abilities. On the ranged side are bounty hunters with their ranged debuffs and duelist stance abilities.

Personally, as a TKA (with Pikes added in) my concern is that Swordsman, the melee oriented damage dealing profession, are the ones who get area taunt. It would make more sense for it to go either to TKA or to Pikes, since those are the professions who are intended to be tanking.

I view Warcry/Intimidate as crowd control abilities as well as opponent modifiers.

as for crowd control...crowd control doesn't mean you have to control the whole crowd. It's more a term for being able to slow/prevent/debuff an enemy. You can do that same debuff to multiple opponents. To my understanding, the ranged crowd control don't have AoE debuffing for every move either.

Personally i think the Lasting time of WarCry definatly needs to be bumped up, and Intimidate needs to stick more, it seems like iget like a 20% chance at best that the intimidate sticks, and this is to PvE opponents, most of the time screw it in pvp. Also Intimidate needs a AoE similar to WarCry or maybe just all enemies that you've aggro'd within a specific range.


Also who ever posted the idea about Leg Assult, i think it was, having a moderate root ability I like that idea, or atleast something toslow down the enemy's movement. My oppinion onbeing a Tank is not just being high in D and taking damage but keeping the enemy away from the group, a root ability would do that, even if its a low one.

Just give us pikemen a 'Pike Throw' similar to saber-throw but with only the ability to taunt the enemy with minimal damage. Or... let 'taunt' work from 35 meters and for no less than 30 seconds of guaranteed agro time for the enemy taunted.


I'm also confused about the 'area taunt' in swordsman. Why would the damage dealers with 3 defense and only 1 crowd control be able to generate agro from all surrounding enemies better than the pikeman with 4 defense and 3 crowd control? I could understand if their area taunt was a directed area taunt something like 'target a player', 'use area taunt', 'all enemies agro toward that player' ... this would make more sense because the goal of a damage dealer should be to get the enemies agro away from him or herself.

Actually I'm pretty sure Pistoleer and BH both get a cone-effect Stun shot.

i'm putting pikeman in my template strictly for this. the only other profession with this in the game at this point is a jedi with master powers.
