Thread: Temporary Pikeman fixes until CB

Its a dark day for all combatants in SWG, from the mighty TKM to the ignored pikeman, to the once powerful/now weak CH. once again SOE has pushed our needs behind some expansion which does NOTHING to enhance the ground game..the game we are currently playing and paying for.


however, in a glimmer of wisdom, the devs have announced they will begin putting in temporary fixes to make the game more "bearable" IMO for the interim. to make things easy for them, how bout we all start putting in our 2 cents for fixes to pikeman. remember, this is not a flame-fest, this is our chance to get our voice heard, so drop in your ideas, making it easy for gunman to give our ideas to the devs.


my suggestions:

1)increase our inherent defenses, from toughness to state defenses.

2) if we are to be the heavy hitters of the melee world, make sure our weapons/attacks meet up to that standard.increase the stats of our weapons, and make Axkva spawn more than once a day, as well as making this INCREDIBLY hard weapon to obtain, powerful, worth the effort in getting the schematic.

I've asked for the toughness mods to be increased, the damage on hit3 to be increased, to have at least 1 positive accuracy mod on the lva and vl, abeefage in stats for the energy lance, an increase in axkva min's spawn rate, and a slight reduction in axkva min's resistances.

All good things, though I'd rather see leghit3 made a 3.5x damage mod than hit3 be raised above 4x (even swordsmen only have a 4x hit3).

I'd suggest additions of the VL being made AP2 and block being made to work the same way that dodge and counterattack currently do. Before we get into the fact that block is "working as intended", keep in mind that they knew it was unbalanced and were going to fix it in the CB. They should at least make it equal to the other two defenses until that time.

What about having the VL bumped up to AP3 (so that Pikemen have at least one weapon that can pierce heavy armor) or would that just be too overpowering for "adventure areas" like the DWB and the Corvette?

And I agree about the block as well. I know it's supposed to be "different" from dodge and counterattack but, until they find a way to balance it, it should just work the same as the others for the sake of balance and fairness.

thats another i forgot to mention. since they were planning to balance it in the CB..no point in waiting for them to reveal their wonderful balancing act in november...make it work just like dodge and counter.

As far as weapons go, I don't think they'd be willing to play around with AP, damage or speeds untill the combat balance. (Even asking for the energy lance stat changes might not work, but I'm hoping that will be the exception to the rule)

I agree, what you guys are saying would really help with an over all balance of the game, but we seriously need a speed boost. Fencers and TKAs can get 3 hits in as fast as I can get 1 off. Speed would help incredibly. We dont have a roll, being slow is doing nothing for us right now, I dont care they can raise our speed back up with the CB. But thats far off, So a quick speed fix would help incredibly... Of course then DoTs would be overpowered.. God i hate DoTs... damn FOTM pikeman.

What about Hit3 having the posture down attack? It's useless when used against NPC.

Just have them bump all of the defenses up to the lvl of TKM and Fencer so we are all even. That way everyone is somewhat balanced. Also i would have them bump up our initiate accuracy instead of our weapon acc. That way we get a change acrros the board no matter what weapon we have. I know i dont post much but i was a pikeman when Shadowfire first started and im now going back to it as i end my ground time on Shadowfire. The acc mods we have now are heaven to what we once had, i just think we need out initiate acc bumped up to the lvl of the others. Also maybe a speed bump and a slight increase in the VL min damage. No non tka novice lvl weapon should have less than 100 min damage.

I actually quite like the posture down on hit3, and find it very useful against NPCs. The problem isn't that hit3 has a posture down, it's that the system is broken so that two posture changes results in the target standing up. Fix that bug and hit3 will be just fine.

I totally agree, in mideival times, long before SOE or colonization on other planets, the only way to penetrate thick armor was with long, sharp, sticks. The vibro lances themselves in production today would be just fine with their damages in tact if they were ALL ap3, why shouldn't that be our benefit? Can a sabre penetrate plate? No. Can a spear? Seriously if the ap on lances were simply raised to 3 as they should be they wouldn't seem all that LAME. Let the fencers dance around and slash away, let someone dodge around me, throw tens of hundreds of states on me a second,but when I hit them let them FEEL it right into their spine.
