Thread: Why would a MPikeman/Swordsman Use a Pike?

I'm just curious, but why would a master swordsman/master pikeman ever use a pike instead of a PH? I mean accuracy and speed mods alone the swordsman would have a +50 advantage! If someone can give me a good reason why, then I'd love to switch to pikes, they're just so much cooler

You wouldn't.
AVL maxes out (around) 1050 damage unpup'd, and those are on the rare side. Pup'd VLs get around 1250 dmg.
A PH maxes out (around, I think) 1150 unpup'd. Pup'd PHs have gotten up to 1400 damage.
Speed is an issue, but with speed tapes, stacking, doc buffs, etc, a PH is still all around better than a VL for damage, as it should be. (swordsman are the damage dealers, pikes are tanks)

yep, you wouldnt. only good pike weapons nowadays are pre-cu looted VL's, and the kamarorian great staff. using a PH makes more sense to me, it is the best melee weapon IMO, beating out katarn, nightblade, VL, nyenth, stun baton, and kama great staff.

dont you think your generalising a little there?
if i could find a ph better ph than my pre cu looted lance id use it! Power hammers have a higher damage output but good lances have better dps!
my max is only 1k but my damage spd is exellent and when i duel jedi they have to constantly heal because i never stop hittng them!

Bah! Kaminoan Great Staff is the way to go. the PH's that get to that kind of damage are almost always insanely high SAC. Drain your action in just a few hits. my staff is 1197 pup'd. and with 85 SAC, and a spd buff, just AB, and continue to melee hit/melee strike, never run low on action. throw a KD and an impale in there, works great for me. If you attack fast enough and at the right times, you can drop them very quickly most the time.

Where can you get a Kamorian great staff? Looking to up my dmg ability.

long chain of quest. start in ryatt trail from the proton carbine guy. if you don't like space, this aint for you.

It's is EXTREMLEY hard, if possible at all,to find a PH with that low of an SAC, Spd, and Damage w/o using pups. If I could damage pup my pike and be able to attack almost non-stop with 1200 damage, I'd use the pike. If you SAC'd a 1200 or so PH down to around 80, it would pretty much be about the same.
[Edit] I'd use the pike though because I'm not a swordsman.

i pup my SAC on my 1109 dam PH to 62, works for me

pup = powerup, putting a powerup on something to make it better, but decay faster. that doesnt matter to me, since i ADK'd my hammer
