I am considering a Pikeman template for PvP that does not require the use of DOTs to win. I would like some input from the long time Pikemen that PvP.

Without DoTs? You'd be much better off with another profession.

You could PvP Pikeman without DoTs.
You just have to find an opponent who does not have buffs (whereas you do) and does not have armor.

just jks but commando is prolley one of the worst around. Im not sure why anyone would want to PVP with Pike without dots. things are going to change soon with the combat rebalance and the comp nerf. Commando might be a force to be reckoned with when armour doesnt resist 90% of it damage

I don't know about that. We are going to need alot of work to be viable with a Flame Thrower in PvP. It appears that every combat profession in the game hasa higher DPS against composite than we do. I just know its one hell of a challenge to PvP with just Commando and was considering trying out Pikeman to see if I could get a good challenge as a melee template.

Not to mention mitigation effects us very greatly. (Soon to go away...sometime)

Once mitigation is gone it wont be so bad. Mitigation hurts many professions. Any profession with large ranges in damage on their weapons, like the 300-1k damage LVA's or the 150-700 damage laser carbines.
Just hoping the developers stop sitting on their thumbs soon.

Pikemen without DoTs in PvP are like cobras without venom. We can look scary, but we'll still get killed by a mongoose.

I would love to see the DPS numbers from all the melee professions to see how Pikeman fits in. Just from a casual observation it looks like only a Master Heavy Swordsman at the speed cap should be able to outdamage you against the same resistance values. It looks like Pikeman should be able to outdamage TKM and Fencers, without the stun baton, in PvP. Im not saying it wouldn't be a long fight and I don't have any hard evidence to prove it, yet.
