Thread: How is Pikeman without DOTs in PvP?

It's tough for Pikeman to do much damage against Compostite (Special kinetic and electricity protection, anyone?). DoTs are the way to go.

At the speed cap what is your opinion for how the melee templates will rank? I have the figures for the ranged professions but not the melee guys.

Well, without doing the full calculations (again. I might have the chart saved on my drive somewhere):

TKA is always at the speed cap, so there is no change. They have great dps because of their tight max-min difference, so they are only slightly affected by mitigation, but their weapon is only AP1. Using player-crafted weapons swordsman pulls ahead because of the raw damage capabilities of the Power Hammer and the low max-min difference of the scythe. Then we really have to calculate things in like stun resist armor (or not) for fencers, true average damage weapons used by pvp'ers, etc. If everyone was at the speed cap, I'd say swordsman has the advantage unless the pikeman has a very good LVA (750+ dmg). Of course, fencers with a good stun baton against no or low stun-resist armor will trump everyone.

PvPing without DOTs as a pikeman is very hard, but it's doable. Just be prepared for it to take a long time to kill your opponent (which is the fault of armor, not the class).

I've been Pvping with pikeman (no dots) lately, and although it does take a while, it isn't that bad - you just gotta know how to put the attack together. If you get it down, and it goes as planned, it'll be a great fight.

What is wrong with block? Forgive me I haven't played rifleman since november/december time frame and I didn't know there was anything wrong with it back then.

Block still lets 1/2 the damage through.

Well today I tested my 200 - 750 unpowered LVA out on a person with no melee mit, I did 1200 damage in one hit and incaped him

I love high damage LVA versus non-melee mitigation opponents. Nothing funnier than hitting someone for 2.4k damage and watching them drop like a brick.

It is, but it's weak that it has nothing to make up for just being inferior to counterattack and dodge. It's the same, just 50% as effective. Weak.

Well if you Dodge you don't take damage but you lose an attack round, Counterattack you don't take damage at all, Block you take half damage. Counterattack is currently broken. Counterattack is supposed to give you an unblockable attack. It seems like the other 2 are working though.
