Thread: Guide to the Kashkyn Ceremonial Lance:
This is a very cool pike:
Clicky!
Unfortunately, it is not in-game at this moment, and we have not heard any plans for the institution of this weapon.
Q: So how is there a screen shot of it? It must be in-game!
A: The artwork for this weapon are in-game. It can be seen in some NPC building, and by certain trainers. Because it is part of the dynamic artwork of the game, it has its own image file in the Star Wars Galaxies directory on your computer. The weapon has no known stats, and it can not be crafted, looted, or purchased anywhere in-game. Again, this is because it is artwork, and artwork only.
Q: How how did someone get a screen shot if it if it isn't in-game?
A: The user used what's known as a Client-side hack. The user located the correct image file for the lance, and replaced the artwork for another pike with that file. The pike the user is actually holding may be anywhere from a Wooden Staff to the Nightsister Energy Lance. Because of the nature of the game, all artwork is stored on your computer. When the game tells your computer that you are holding a certain weapon, it send a very small coded message, your computer then find the appropriate artwork on its hard drive. Because of this, the image of the Kashkyn Ceremonial Lance can only be seen by the user that has hacked the artwork. Another user will see a normal weapon when examining the character.
Q: What kind of armor is he wearing?
A: The user is decked out in red Mandalorian Armor, obtainable from the Death Watch Bunker. This furthers the proof that the user is using a Client-side hack because it is nearly impossible to get a full suit of Mandalorian armor in the same color. When crafting this armor, the color generation is random, therefore the chances of getting a full suit are very small.
Q: So why is this a Screen Shot of the Day if its a fake?
A: There is no definitive answer to this question. The dev who decided what the screen shot of the day is may have not been paying attention, or may not have been aware that this weapon was not in the game yet.
Q: Was the person punished for this deceit?
A: Chances that he or she was punished are slim. When you submit a screen shot (clicky) you PM the link of the picture. Because of the ease of creating alternate characters, it is very easy to deceive the system and thus, not worth the moderators time to hunt down people who make minor hacks, especially since, in essence, they hacked they're own computer. Again, the image of the pike and the armor are only visible to the user who committed the hack.

When they say include the URL for the picture, do they mean put it up on some website somewhere like Imagedump.com and send them the address?
If not, please clarify.
Yes, when you submit the screen shot, you're asked to host the image yourself. When the dev's decide which pictures make the cut, and which don't, they then take the picture off of your website and add the LucasArts and SOE Trademark information to it.

I did send a PM to the screenshot address informing them it was a fake. Seems they agreed

STICKY!
not yet, but a bump for good measure.
Furthermore, there are many pictures of people holding the Kashkyn Ceremonial Lance most of which are Wookiees. There are also a few more Pikes that are not in the Live game yet. Pictures are floating around of them also. So next time before you make a fool of yourself, do your research, not just make assumptions.

A2 : It was on the Test Center. The picture is not fake, and no its not impossible to get the same color armor. The TC is a much different place then the over inflated mess that are the Live Servers. The odds of Client-Side hacks for SWG is nearly Impossible. This is not Diablo where you toon is stored on your computer.

A2 : Its not a Fake, that's a good reason to me.

A2 : Your not to bright, and have no idea what your talking about. Again you can't "Hack" this game because the toons are stored on the server NOT your computer. If you did find a "Hack" program and used it, it wouldn't matter anyways. They would track you down and kill your toon before you got a chance to log out let alone take a Picture for it.

They should actually add this weapon to the game, preferably with a damage type other than kinetic or electricity. We pikeman have the short end of the stick when it comes to weapons.
No, We have 2 types just like Fencer and Swordman. TK has 1....
