Thread: Guide to the Kashkyn Ceremonial Lance:

A2 : It was on the Test Center. The picture is not fake, and no its not impossible to get the same color armor. The TC is a much different place then the over inflated mess that are the Live Servers. The odds of Client-Side hacks for SWG is nearly Impossible. This is not Diablo where you toon is stored on your computer.
A2 : Your not to bright, and have no idea what your talking about. Again you can't "Hack" this game because the toons are stored on the server NOT your computer. If you did find a "Hack" program and used it, it wouldn't matter anyways. They would track you down and kill your toon before you got a chance to log out let alone take a Picture for it.
Actually this is easy to do.. You are mistaken about one thing. Changing the image of an object in game does not change the stats, only the client-side rendering. And only you would see it, all others would see the original object. That toon in the pic could be wearing bone armor and holdinga wooden staff, and if you examined the mandalorian armor and pike on his toon, you would see the stats for bone armor and a wooden staff. All the toons, cash, equipments and stats reside on the server, as you said, but the images are not downloaded, only the code for the object is downloaded so the SWG client can load the proper object and render it.
It's quite easy to do once you figure out how it works. Using a tool like SWG Explorer, you can examine the TRE files, which are like complete folder hierarchies of files compressed into one. You just need to locate the name of the object you want to change and the one you want to change it to. Save and export the file of the new object, create a folder hierarchy under your SWG game folder identical to the structure in the TRE file, copy the new object file in that folder, but give it the name of the object you wish to replace. And bingo, that wooden satff now looks like that new pike or a double-edged lightsaber.
Remember, this is in no way a cheat since you only change the way *you* see it on your machine. All others in game would see you wearing bone armor and holding a wooden staff, and the stats are unchanged. The SWG client does as much as it can to eliminate server downloads and roundtrips while keeping anything that can be hacked and game-breaking on the server.
Of course, I've never done this myself, I just know how it works since someone once showed me.
MyT_Chicken wrote:Good point, I can see how that would work. However these lances were in development, or atleast being talked about on the TC. I don't know what happened to them, but I know I've seen them before.
Changing the TRE's is not a "hack" anyways, so it still doesn't matter. It may not be allowed per the TOS, but its not a "hack".
Of course it was talked about on TC, it was talked about everywhere. If it wasn't, there'd be no need for a guide, now would there?
Go here and notice the large number of client-side texture hacks (aka mods). A larger site (swgmods) contained the Kashyyykian lance hack, but is no longer active. It's quite appropriate to refer to texture replacements as hacks, unless you've come up with some new definition of the term.
This item was never in the game, nor has it ever appeared as in any .tre file as anything more than a texture. There is no corresponding .iff file, nor is there any data anywhere that suggests that this is now or ever will be in the game.
If you're going to flame, at least know what you're talking about. Agek's original post was absolutely correct.
The term "client side hack" is used to talk about any change of the game from a client side computer.
Changing the appearance of your toon, even if it can only be viewed by you
falls under the category of "client side hack." I never said that it involved hacking the
servers, or the content of the game, its just what the type of activity is known as, so please
don't jump down my throat about that, and don't say that "I'm not to bright" before you
consider what I actually said.
The Screen Shots of the Day are assumed to be from the Live servers of the game, if this weapon exists on Test Center, not one
Pikeman who plays with it has come forward to tell me, or anyone else about it. Again, the same applies for the Madalorian Armor. If you do not use a "Blue Frog" the armor is almost impossible to get in the game due to the
rarity of the drops, and the random colors.
You say that they were on Test Center, but have never seen one yourself, are you sure they were released onto TC? At the time of this post they were not in any area of the game, TC or otherwise. If you would like to
amend my original post with a correction of this fact, please do so in a civil manner, without the name calling.
To finish, why did you say that Pikemen only have 2 damage types? Any
Pikeman knows that we have 3 damage types: Kinetic, Electric, and Energy.
Albeit, the NSEL is difficult to get, we still have that damage type.

No, We have 2 types just like Fencer and Swordman. TK has 1....
No, we have three, electricity, kinetic, and energy. It is just that energy thats a while to get and it isn't worth the price.
