is there a diff between them besides the proff they are tied to? like is having +100block better than +100dodge?

I thought you would know this... yes!
Dodge you actually get out of the way.
Block you stop the hit but I have still given damage after someone blocked.
Counterattack is broken but I am guessing you should jump out of the way and get an extra attack.

Counterattack and dodge work the same way, but block only evades 50% of the incoming damage upon a successful "block", whereas the others evade 100%.

I don't know that having +100 dodge would make you more likely to dodge than someone with +100 block would be to block but it is certainly a more useful skill since block only stops 50% of damage. On the plus side for block you actually get to execute a blocking animation. The only thing a dodge looks like it ought to avoid would be a bomb MSE that failed to blow up.

Dodge is just that, you dodge out of the way avoiding ALL damage.
Block, if I remember correctly, blocks 1/2 the damage, but any state component to attack will get through.
Not quite sure about Counterattack as I've never been a Swordsman or Carbineer.

Not sure that it matters a huge amount. You'll never block, dodge or counterattack high-end PvE content because of mobs' high accuracy and anyone who can intimidate you will negate your secondary defences in PvP. Unless you like to go to Fort Tusken without buffs and armour or fight other players without the template or nous to use intimidate, you're going to get hit anyway.
But yeah dodge is certainly more useful than block and I defer on counterattack as I haven't tested it.

Counter-Attack will cause you to 'shrug off damage' so you do not suffer any damage from an attack, but states and DOTs will stick.

We brought it to the devs attention a while back and they replied that it was working as intended.

so what they intended it to be that our defenses are less than that of an equal proff? i mean as pike man the def are GREAT the dmg output is terrible so what are we good for DoTs? i mean yea im having fun as a DoT sloot right now but in the CU or even sooner DoTs are gonna get nerfed and i dont waist my DoTs on PvE so im kinda screwed, i was thinkin of changing my template to M-Pike M-Rifle but idk now
