I'm trying to see if armor is really worth it I just traded a whole bunch of skins and bones for a full suit of bone armor and im not really seeing a difference except against humanoids who use ranged weapons? Should I just sell this armor or am I just missing what to look for? Should I just go armorless I noticed I ran alot faster without armor. Please let me know.

The main advantage of Bone Armor is it's resistant to energy weapons. This explains why you do better against humanoids with it.

For hunting animals the best defense I found was distance. Start shooting from the prone (with Maskscent up when you get it) at extreme range and the critters are often half dead before they even figure out where you're shooting from.

I am working my way up the pikeman tree and I just bought a new set of advanced chitin armor (except for the helmet). In order to wear every piece I've had to get them sliced as well as doing some stat migration. Now I've always healed during battle... I don't know what the regeneration rate of most pikeman minds are but Zabrak have a 700 will power at it's minimum so our minds generally recover real fast. Now with this armor all my secondary stats are down to below 100 except for my will power which is still around 400. But that nearly cuts my regeneration rate in half. If I heal during battle like I once did my mind doesn't bounce back as easily. Now I may get 1 or 2 heals during battle... anymore and I could put my mind at risk to instant incapitation should I get a hit to the head. I mean if someone is targeting my head I'm not gonna make it very long but if it is just random hits to any part of the body then one hit won't usually kill me. I'm just wondering if it is still worth having the armor if I can't heal as often (but I shouldn't have to heal as often if I am getting less damage) (I don't know if the average will power is around what I have now or not).

Oh yeah, the stats on the armor are about 40 - 47% effectiveness to kinetic and 19 - 24 % effectiveness to energy, blast, restraint, and acid.

I have found that zero armor works best for me. With the already high HAM costs on the vibro lance and long vibro axe it doesn't seem to make much sense to hinder myself anymore than that.

Well i used to not use armor, but now that i use some good ubese armor, i cannot go back to not using it. Yes there is longer down time, but the fact is, taking off 50% plus damage off an attack is just to much to pass up. I normaly fight in groups where there is a healer, which helps ALOT. but whenever i try to just fight in my cloak, i get killed WAY to fast. I also dont use specials nearly EVER, which is really sad becuase i LOVE them. But untill they do something about HAM costs there is just no getting around it.

Take the armor off to regen, it's as simple as that.

Personally I hate armor, the ridiculously high ham costs prevent me from even thinking about it. I solo and tank things fine without armor, and I think I'm content. Besides, i find it goofy when i see somone runnin through town in full armor.

Yah armor is worth it I have mistakenly run into camps (darn crafting tool takes up too much room hehe) full of tabages or other nasty aggro critters and once you get ganged up on without armor you would be toast, I can ususally live through a mistake like that and gain some good exp through the mass kills.

Now I ran into a Lord Vyax group of NPC's and I died in a couple seconds flat I remeber trying to talk myself out of it "Umm I am just a innocent crafter......this vibro axe belongs to my friend it is broken anyway....and I have armor on since I am a store model......HEY please put the gun down........Lord Vyax is my uncle.......urrrgghghhhh..........."

A few minutes later...."Cool I needed to hit the bazaar anyway and restock......."

I don't wear armor and I tank just fine. Polearmsweep2 does the trick when more than one mob aggro's you and I can keep them from hitting me or anyone else that I'm grouped with. Not only that, but even with basic medic skills I can keep myself healed just fine in between my sweeps and regular swings. That will probably change with the 30-second KD timer, but I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

The only thing armor does for me currently is make my sweep2 HAM costs skyrocket. Its much more pleasant when I only lose -120 (and keep the mob from hitting me) than taking damage from Sharnaff Bulls or Giant Baz Nitches and only hitting for half while they're attacking me. Try to sweep with armor on and my HAM shoots up over 250. No thank you.

The only armor I use is a padded helm. It takes away my willpower, so I can't recover mind as fast, but it seems to me to protect me from headshots alot more, and that is the one stat I can't heal with stims. After the battle if I need to heal my mind, I just remove the helm, and heal up naturally.

When you tank you don't use styles. You may think you're tanking fine, but try it against 4 high level mobs. Your medics will not be happy trying to keep you alive through that if you're wearing no armor.

"When you tank you don't use styles."

Try sweep2 chief. I take friends out and get them mass XP doing 8-10 baz nitches at a time with sweep2 and whatever area attack they have. Tank all day and never get hit. This will probably get screwed up soon by the KD timer, but area2 or stun2 combined with warcry2and a sweep2 every 30 seconds will work almost as well.

Lots of armor is almost useless in PVE unless you have a dedicated healer, a couple low-HAM-penalty pieces can work ok, but if youuse your skills, you are not going to get hit very often, if at all.

The only time armor is worth it in PVE imo is if you're fighting something that can 1 hit kill you without it.

PVP, I wear 40%energy resist bone helmet and chestplate. Torso and eyeshot are a **edit**. I've tried adding more pieces with little to no positive effect. Almost no one uses action targeting attacks, a lot of people use health targeting stuff, and you have to cover against the occasional head/eyeshot.

I'm still running around in the same bone armor someone gave me on my first day in the game.

Now, I have the opportunity to buy some marine armor via faction points, but I hear tell of folks who NEVER use any armor due to encumbrance, etc.

Is it worth the FP to get some armor?
