Thread: A little bitterness in that flavor

I think there might be some hope to be found already in dispersing some of the people picking up just enough pike to use the DoT polearms. You might have heard, but there is a weapon-switching delay of 3 seconds on TC in publish 9. This might aid in hindering some people using a DoT lance, then switching to a rifle, stun baton, lightsaber, whatever.

It will also make it difficult for pikemen to switch from a DoT polearm to a damage one. That might be troublesome, but it's a step toward keeping people from dabbling just enough to use DoTs and perpetuate the "mini-CM" stereotype.

What do you guys think?

In a regular combat i use 4 or 5lances..15 secdelay


umm perhaps warcry to change weapons

its 3 secs to switch weapons then another 3 secs to fire off a special i think or it might have been lag. But i would rather have them nerf the dots than this cause its very very annoying 6 secs of not being able to attack or heal is imo not a good idea.

Well that's a good point.


it does help that problem but overall I think it's annoying...I'd much rather have the freedom to change weapons when I need to, but we'll see how it turns out.


The devs know we hate the dot munkies running around so I'm hopeing that the dot problem gets solved in the revamp.

Why not have a special DOT cert somewhere in the pikeman tree? Could be in the same box as the Energy Lance cert.

I have to agree with Chindi. There are many options they could use, they could put a DOT cert somewhere in the pikeman tree, they could put dot modifiers withing the pikeman tree (ex. novice = 25% dot, master = 100% dot damage and have boxes in between), they could only put dots on nightsister lances and have a cert for NS lances at master pike. Or.... if they don't want us using the dot's then they could simply stop dropping them as loot. I can not understand why the devs give us loot, but don't want us to use it. It's all just typical of the lack of thought that was put into developing this game. And if you think the combat revamp will fix all the problems, why do you think that? The same people who were in charge of screwing up PVP in the first place, are the same ones redeveloping it. If they couldn't do an adequate job in the first place why would they now?

Based upon what I've seen in this game, I don't think a DoT certification is even possible, unless you placed all DoT weapons into a certain classification apart from its normal, non-DoT counterpart.

Anyways, to the topic at hand. No, I don't really see it being that much of a hinderance. People might not bother putting a 90 strength mind fire on now, but anything decent is still going to be in people's routine.

Another thing, okay they take the time to nerf pike dot's a bit, well that fine. But at the same time they can't do anything to nerf cm at all? I mean would you rather face a guy carrying a pike with a 400 mind posion pike or a cm lobing 1000+ mind posion's from 95m away? It just frustrates me that the real problems aren't addressed while they spend all their time fixing mainly non-issues (i know i sure enjoyed that droid revamp). Also with the weapon switching, are we not supposed to go from melee to ranged weapons, yeah i think all those pike/rifleman are ruining the game. Sorry but i gotta vent.

I like the idea of moving DOTS to NS lances only and then putting a NS lance cert somwhere in the pike skill trees.

Make people commit to the profession if they want to use these things.


One thing we should remember too is that a LOT of brawlers with DOT weapons are actually using Janta Knives , maybe these should be looked at?

lol this is going to make things so much more unbalanced. Certain proffessions and templates requireyou toswitch weapons while some even encourage it.


If you area master BH you are encouraged to use all 3 aspects of that profession which requires switchingyour weapon.


So now they are going to make pikeman, BH, pistoleer and another prof worse that switches guns alot. While rifleman/cm will just get better.


I believe it will make cm/fencer and cm/rifleman more godly and make things even more unbalanced.

It will definitely be different. Some things will be difficult and I won't like the delay myself. Just pointing out something positive from it.

why not just give each profession speed bonuses to switching weapons IN CLASS? ie your pikeman, you can switch out pikes faster than a fencer/pistoleer/bh/etc... Make the speed for switching weapons mod at Master level of each prof. that way you kill two birds with one stone. Dabblers are penalized, dots are better regulated, and Masters are just that, Masters of thier chosen weapon-type.
