so i was reading lots of posts to decide which weap to pick up.. 2h or pike.. my situation is that i only have enuff points to get 1 line in either of my weapon's elite profession.. so I want to be sure I make the right choice... (or i can get 1 first tier box and a third tier in a different line)

the posts seemed to say that swordsman outdamages pikeman, but pikeman has cool KD and stun... well.. I think if i were to do pikeman, i'd get the 4th line for accuracy and bleeding... since i can only get 1 line and KD is getting screwed up in the next patch... At that point, I wonder.. if I'm not using pikeman for the KD and stun like described, should I be using swordsman line? Again, i'd only get 1 line and would probably stay away from what is getting nerfed since I only get 1 line and it has to be the most essential line...

so my question is.. do swordsman outdamage pikeman (ignoring KD/stun, cause im not getting it anyway)... are swordsman better by dps? single hit dmg? both? pve? pvp? if I were to go pikeman, would my accuracy+bleed line be the best one (after KD nerf)? why/why not.. if i were to go swordsman, what would i do? go for bleeding again?

also, im wondering why nobody on the pikeman forum talks about killing stuff with berserk... maybe its cause im not even novice pikeman yet and dont have the cool moves.. but i sure do kill a lot faster with berserk than leg hits... and testing lance vs. LVA, i decided to use the lance as often as possible cause the LVA shouldn't be used without more accuracy (if i get bleeds and accuracy, i can use the LVA and do good dmg right? but then again.. what about the swordsman?)

The accuracy/bleeds branch requires combat xp, not pike xp. It will take you 3 times as long to get it as one of the other branches.

i fully understand that.. but its rediculous to say "im not going to get that line because its going to take longer" ... thats just plain stupid... but thank you for NOT answering my question =P

swordsman outdamages pikeman?....show me 1 swordsman who can hit for 3k+ in PvP (thats 12k+ in PvE)

oh,but to answer ur question, go swordsman, if u arent going for master pikeman, 1 line isnt going to help u do anything really, pikeman suck until they get stances 4, and then they need sweep's just to stay alive, so 1 line wont really help u much, might as well get swordsman and be good from the start

seriously? actionhit 2 and sweep 1 and the fact that im a pikeman hehehe isnt enuff to out-perform swordsman with the same relative skillboxes?

well swordsman has pretty much all the advantages. they have much better acuracy they have better speed they get armor piercing 2 wich makes their damage rather nice i think the highest hit on a kded st is about 17.5k they get better thoughness, and, of course they get to hit mind damage wich means people cant just heal all their dmg away between hits in pvp.

well i guess that's enough reasons to switch to swordsman... but what about sweep (after the patch)... 1 kd vs. no kd? heh

posture change is going to be on the same timer as knockdown.

the main advantages between pike and swords are

Swords have medium armor rating
Pikeman vibro lances are electricty damage and light armor rating

Obviously if knockdown wasn't getting nerfed then i'd say pikeman is no contest better overall than swords.

just to throw a monkey wrench into the whole thing, if you're a rodian you get +10 to 2h Swords and 1h swords accuracy PLUS you have high Action stats, which are great for the 2h Curved Sword, which in my opinion is the all around best weapon to use for Swords.

Once you get your speed up though and can cap the powerhammer minimum delay, the powerhammer is a good weapon too.

Supposedly the Scythe will be implemented soon, so we'll see what kind of stats that has.

I am a swordsman, but If I only had a small amount of points to spend, I would go pikeman and go up the polearm defensive techniques line. You gain a ton of defensive mods in there plus polearm sweep 1&2. The swordsman line has it's defense mods in 2 different lines, so you won't gain the full benefits.
