I was wondering how you people have your stats adjusted so that using a LVA doesn't incap you in 3 swings? Pistoleer you don't need any real stats, but this change to a challenging profession lands me in the cloning facility all the time. Thanks for your input everyone.

Try your best not to spam specials, and buff your stats. Tatoine Sunburns are great, and Doc Buffs. REally no matter what your Base stats are youll incap. yourself if you spam them, unless your stats are buffed..

It depends on race to some extent, as well as what buffs you have readily available. Since the secondary stats control how much is used on specials high strength and quickness will help reduce HAM. I'm a Zabrak and even with those maxxed it would be rough without buffs. As it is I have maxxed out all of my mind stats and never fight without doc buffs, but I'm a master doc also so I have buffs dependably. If you won't have doc buffs I'd recommend raising your secondary stats, sacrificing the tertiary ones (con and stam) and taking up medic to heal yourself. Since fear is not the mind killer, but specials, set mind as high as you can with what is leftover and then get a lot of tatooine sunburns, vegiparnase, and doc buffs whenever you can.

I think it rocks that the above poster is a master doc and pikeman, but you don't need buffs to function. I've never did pike combat buffed, not that I'd refuse any that were offered

Buffs of some sort are very necessary, whether it's doctor or food. You're severly limiting yourself in all aspects of the game if you don't. You've never fought buffed? You really should try it, you will see a tremendous difference.

Boy I am not one to talk then. I don't think I have fought with pike and not been buffed by something.

My RL wife is a Master Doctor so I get buffed, right before the fight I pop some Fishak and some muon gold. When the muon wears off I pop another fishak to keep me alive (if the fight is still going.

I can usually finish off a lair in one muon, but I usually take another before the second mission.

Timing the drugs seems to be part of my strategy.

Call me crazy, but I migrated my stats to 400,400,1100. Keep in mind that I am a Master Doctor also, so I can buff myself at will.

The way I survive is just by stacking my bleeds and just using my regular attack command. This seems to get the job done without spamming specials and losing a ton of HAM.

Basically what I have done to survive my ham has been to avoid combat. I am dying to level up but instead I have worked on decorating my house , bought a vehicle , walked around aimlessly , picked fights with NPC's that wont fight back ( it was a close call but I think I showed him who is boss) ,and bought new clothes. I keep hoping that someone will do something to make fighting fun enough to want to do it again but each patch I see they put stuff in for other professions to make them weaker instead. I figure eventually when every other profession is as weak as I am I will start trying PVP and leave the creatures alone. However I find myself now playing less and less. Sad really I have enjoyed playing up till now. I know most of you would say then dont play pikeman but I like the pikeman profession per say just not the ham hassles. One other thing I have discovered is when I sit down to play when I want to fight stuff I perfer to do it by myself. When I do other things in game I want to do it with folks. I have notice that more and more this game is moving toward it being more and more important to group to fight. This is a Massive Multiplayer Game granted but does that mean everything has to be done in groups I say no. I think Massive Multiplayer means there are lots of people IN the game world together. I play to submerge myself in non reality to get away for a while from lifes little stresses. I can not get away grouping and chit chating in combat. If I want chit chat I hang out in the player city or a cantina. Sorry I got off topic some but I have just reached my got to vent stage.

Thank you for listening,

Oona

I never really used buffs in my previous professions (unless it was before a big PVP raid and we knew we were going against folks who would be buffed or had a big advantage). Now, for better or worse, I'm a total junkie. I'll use any drug you give me, I will stalk certain doctors to the ends of the server who give great buffs,I will pimp my pet for a crate of Muon, I'll... you get the point.

I was lag killed out on Dantooine a few days back and decided to fight for a while unbuffed. Yeah, it's doable for sure - it just takes different tactics. But to fully enjoy the profession and use the combos and some bat-out-of-hell combat tactics, you really need to use buffs and drugs. It probably shouldn't be that way, but it is.. so I just deal with it.

...C'mon man, give them drugs a try,,, they are the only way to fly...

(PS: Just say no to drugs in RL - I'm not endorsing that type of stuff. This is just a game people)

Doc buff helps alot

I usally take my bothan stat all in the secondary, then i buff myself (when ill be master doc this mean 2-3hours buff for 1500 to 3500 +)

Then i keep up the mind with muon gold. I can solo up to three piket (any kind) with 1-4-3-3 Pikeman. i even solo Frenzied graul (before patch).

When i didnt have all that , i was using a tank then ill take my fastest weapon , Vibro lance (speed 2.7) and let him drain the opponent (bleed then auto attack)
