Thread: New changes

CH's won't just leave angry SOE has been criminally neglegent with us. They promised all this new functionality with the Mustafaar expansion, new pets, new loot to boost our taming level, new pet skills we could learn and use. They did this KNOWING that it would all be removed 4 weeks later.
I'm not just mad .....
This in particular has serious teeth.
I think if you paid for the expansion and have CH character(s), you should file a complaint with the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC). SOE was clearly, deliberately, lying to you.

My account is up as of tonight or maybe tomorrow night. I wasn't orginally planning to quit; just switch down from the Access pass to a Galaxies-only account. After what's gone down in the last 24 hours, I can't see myself renewing my subscription.
Creature Handler was a fun alternative to playing to an empty cantina, and I had some interesting times figuring out how I could make performers out of my pets. Now, I'm not only being told that I have to sit in my socializer box forever and never be anything elseif I want to be an entertainer, but that I can't have my pets at all.
This is especially disturbing after the way that Trials of Obi-Wan was hyped as being a CH expansion. I guess we know now why no-one has never found the mythical Creature Handler's necklace. Despite having a picture and description in the "Loot of Mustafar" Friday Feature, it was never actually put into the game.
Then the timing of the announcement - One day after the launch of Trials. They made sure that they got everyone's money before they told them that their game was being canceled in favor of a new game with the same name. For the CH's that bought Trials (not me, thankfully) this is an out-and-out bait and switch. It borders on fraud.
(GEEZE, nevermind what I wrote below. Go to the Red Dwarf link) (Don't you hate it when you get done typing and find out what you wrote was obsolete before you posted it??)
My follow-on question comments:
Will all skill boxes in the new professions be able to be active at the same time?
Let me explain- Currently to be a master dancer you have to complete all the skill boxes in dancer to be a master and you had to do two trees of entertainer just to qualify. The new game (which this change is going to actually be it seems)appears to restrict you to a single class of character. Part of the fun ofSWG is balancing the so-called templates. If 100% of the newentertainer profession can be active to a player, then there isn't muchof a template to balance and play with. Further, since you can only be one profession that means template balancing and tweaking is being permanetlyremoved from the game if a player can have active all the skill boxes of their profession. This would further mean that an entertainer would be an entertainer with no specialization. If this happens to be true. Kinda why I asked the question.
Within the new entertainer profession will there be allowance for some combat skills?
Finally, geeze, this goes live on the TC tomorrow why am I wasting your time with questions? I guess, becuase I can't wait till tomorrow.
Oh, just as an aside, I suggested spies be added to the game over one year ago. WOW, they are going to add them! I am really looking forward to trying that out, it sounds like a lot of fun at this point!

I'm not sure what you mean by "active at the same time". Please elaborate.

No. Combat skills will only be available to the combat professions. Entertainers will not have combat skills.
Finally, geeze, this goes live on the TC tomorrow why am I wasting your time with questions?
Nope..not at all. The questions that are posed by the active posters are probably also common to those who lurk but don't post. Best to get all the questions out in the open.

"Yea, no hot-keys. That is a problem for ATK and typing for social. I am not sure, but I think you can still macro a rotuine to the right button (wow I forgot to try doing that). It would not be recursive, but you could set a large amount of commands into 1 macro and start it and be able to type. You would just have to restart it every time it stopped."
I got this from Igie, the Brawler Corr who has been so graciously answering questions in this thread:
Right here!

n'Jessi NJ62, the Image Design correspondent, was also at the NGE preview and told me yesterday that she was able to use a macro to dance. I'll see if I can't get her in here tomorrow to tell about it (unfortunately, she won't be able to make the meeting tomorrow night due to prior plans).

I can understand why those who are accustomed to having a hybrid template, combining entertainer and combat skills, are reluctant to give up that freedom. I don't think that eliminating Entertainer as a profession and making us a hobby is a viable solution to your dilemma.Even lately with our focus on our lack of content in the game as it exists currently on Live, the majority of those willing to express their opinion have been against complete removal of skill point investment and are not in favor of opening up Entertainer skills to the whole playerbase.
Yes but you must admit that your recent poll was done before this game overhaul was even known. I'd be curious as to the results of your poll if asked today. I mean, back then, we were still working under the premise that we still had freedom to be something else. We are now facing the distinct possibility of NOT being able to have an established character do anything but entertain. Can a large number of Entertainer-types actually claim that they will be happy for long in this setup? I can say that I would not. I'm not particularly thrilled to have to assume Musician and ID skills either. Those have never interested me.
I am not asking for the ability to be a CL80 and a dancer, but the ability to be as effective in battle as an entertainer as I am currently as a CL56 dancer/tkm.
Quite essentially, SWG is moving from being a skill-based game to a class-based game. The two design concepts are, by definition, mutually exclusive.
