Thread: Guide to the Nightsister Energy Lance
I still don't know if this dropped on Starsider or any server since Publish 6. However, I was approached in game with an offer to buy an Energy Lance or the scematic itself. The person said nothing under 8 figures will be accepted. I also asked a fellow pike that has the Energy Lance, how much he paid. He said 10 million.
Why does this Energy Lance have to be so unattainable to the less fortunate (meaning players who only have a million or less)? I mean as a Master Doc, i can probably make a few million in a short amount of time public buffing, but why do I have to? I am not even going to get into the comparison of damage this Energy Lance can give as oppsed to the othe loot drops for other professions. There is already another thread in thiis pike section discussing that anyway.
So my question is, how much is the Energy Lance on your server? Don't you think 10 million+ is a bit much for this weapon or is it me?

Dear fellow Pikemen,
Having had a short discussion with Antares on the matter of the Energy Lance and after actually seeing someone wield one and checking its stats I can only think of one thing to say "Why the hell bother?". Before anyone rushes to spite, spit, curse or any other niceties forums are seething with, perhaps not our own but forums in general over the Web, pause to consider some simple facts.
- We need to kill a 400K HAM Force User that spams 3k Force hits at her leisure, not to mention her entire retinue of not so simple guards, at least twice to obtain the schematic and then the vibro units to make the lance.
- Said lance will end up with AP 1 while we already have the LVA that is AP 2. More often than not its less damaging than a crafted LVA and far from on par with exceptional looted LVAs that can be true behemoths of damaging.
- Discounting the above, said lance has a damage type of "Energy" where everyone and his monther and his mother's mother has decent to high Energy resistances.
- Bear in mind that we need to go to such huge length to get an AP 1 weapon that only looks nifty when you execute moves while its not that damaging to be of any serious threat whereas Riflemen obtain an AP 3 rifle at the Novice of their skill set that can very much tear through most things without effort.
- Count the endless times we have to kill the mob to actually loot something off it and the not so rare chance that even if we do loot motors the WS can very well fail all experimentations and produce a piece of junk.
I ask you all, why waste days upon days upon days to get a weapon we'll use 1/10 of the time since a good looted and sliced LVA or even VL can be far far deadlier? Is there a reasoning to all this? I doubt it, I see it as a bone tossed to a complaining profession in a vain effort to silence the rightful howling and we all know that a bone can only be good for so much time. Can it be fixed? Most certainly so, the damage can be raised, the speed can be lowered, the HAMs can be minimized, AP can be something decent (at least AP2 if not 3 considering the effort we have to put to get one), damage type can be changed to something less commonor a combination of the above to produce a weapon each Pikeman would strive to claim not only for its nice visual effect but to use in battle to the end of his days.
Now I am more than aware some will come and say "wait for the Combat Pass" and my answer is simple. Would you all risk waiting for a Combat Pass that might come in a month or two or three or four or whenever, only to witness there is no change in our "legendary" weapon and that it still sucks as much as it does to the day or would you rather get up and start complaining again hoping the next bone we get tossed is better? While I don't enjoy the idea of grabbing bones off the air whenever the DEVs toss one I'd hate staying with hope and do nothing, thus delaying the repair of a true issue that could have been addressed in the universal Combat fix.
That being said, I apologize for posting in this thread where Antares and many other "established"Pikemen have caringly provided tips and ideas on how to obtain a wondrous weapon such as the Energy Lance, but I considered no other place better to bust some bubbles before its too late than this. Again, to everyone that has taken the time to read this and considers it a loss of their times a wholehearted apology. From all the rest I'd much like a comment or two.

Heh seriously.. I think it's the principle of the thing. This is our weapon... the one that was added to make us shut up. It didn't do that, but regardless, as you pointed out, this is our "legendary weapon." It doesn't matter if it's amazing or not, by principle, most of us want it just to say "see, we did it, we are Pikemen complete!"
Others, I don't know... that's what it is for me.
