I took up Pikeman because an old guildmate of mine said it rocked and i should try it... i was sold after i hit polarms 2. Its also sweet to clear out Janta/Mokk missions in under 45 sec thanks to area2

Comming from a very strong AD&D background, I saw one character when I was new to SWG wielding the LVA. Wham, that was it.
I think I was trying Rifles then, can't be really sure, all I can remember though is dragging everyone I knew around trying to get Polearm xp, oh and for the record, the first time I mastered Pikeman I had no idea what buffs where so I practically used just auto hit to level.
Now I picked Pikeman back up after trying some pure crafting gig that just wasn't cut out for me. I dare say I curse at myself for dropping it at all but anyhow, the love is back where it belongs.

This is round two for me with pikes. The first time out, I was torn.
On the one hand, being a TKM, I was used to a certain level of protection (toughness) and rate of attack (capped). On the other, there is nothing more cool looking than a Pikeman in combat. I couldn't help but feel like I was missing out on something, but overall, the grind called me, and I stayed with TKM over Pike. When the holo grind stopped, I wasn't really sure what to do with my time. At that point I was a Master Rifleman, Master CH. But CH was becoming stale. I liked it, but not enough to stick with it as an end game. I missed having melee ability, and started to grind fencer, because I knew of Rifle's lack of defenses against state attacks. My heart just wasn't in it though. I'm a PVE'r, and Fencer stinks at PVE. I consideredSwords, but they are so BLAND.Then I remembered Pikes. I started reading the pike forums, and realized I had never really experienced the full potential of the class. With the FS melee speed now available, I decided to give pikes another go. I will drop rifles beforeI drop pike now. I'm completely hooked. I really don't care much (at all) about being a Jedi, but force enhanced pikeman/master ranger is starting to sound pretty cool.

Ever since I realized that the brawler profession and its branching professions weren't so bad after all, I've always wanted to go pikeman. I made the suggestion a few times to my friends, but they told me about all kinds of problems and extra work you had to do, even at master, so I put it off for a while. Instead, I went off to master fencer, which I still think looks great, but when my account was down for 2 months, I had the chance to make a new char on one of my friend's accounts. The first thing I did was to pick up a pike and go hunt chubas.. And it doesn't take long to get hooked from there. Pretty soon, I had an LVA, and was loving every minute of the game.
To be honest, when my account was down, it was because I had left the game... It was boring me to death. I absolutly dreaded getting on everyday. Since I've started working on pikes, I can't pry myself away from it.
But, I owe at least a little bit of it to Malinko, since he was the first one I knew to go down that path. He's a bum and he knows it, but that bum knows how to have fun.
As for the DoT nerf, let it come. Because when it comes, it will be towing a combat revamp behind it... And maybe that 320-588 LVA will start to mean something more then the DoT attached to it. Andd even if it doesn't, I'll be pikeman till the end.

The dots....
I look forward to the coming combat balance when armor and buffs aren't so overpowered that you need dots to kill players in pvp. I had been thinking about going pikeman for a while and while I was out hunting NS I looted a 600 tick mind fire lance which sealed the deal.
