You will never hear the end of this... hahaha... so funny.

Seriously, Q and TH. I like what I'm seeing here with the dev participation. It's just one thread, though. Let's see more activity in here. Whether through Gunman21 or directly giving the input yourself, we would greatly appreciate more attention.

"It's coming in the combat pass" responses make baby Jesus cry.

I honestly don't think that disabling a combat combo is the way to go. When you optimize for PvP and stack to bejebus, you're giving up on all the other things you can do, like ranger, creature handler, or some sort of crafting, or doctor, or CM, or bioengineer... or ANYTHING.

All the insane templates have a good number of failing points. Intimidation prevents defensive ractions, making the Counterattack and Dodge stackers vulnerable to anyone with Novice brawler, and blinding/stunning completely bones up a ranged/melee defense stack. A Master Carabineer, well played, can beat a Rifleman/Fencer/TKA without even trying.

What really needs to be fixed are the bugs with the melee accuracy modifier. All gunwielders are HARDER to hit in melee than they are otherwise, which is backwards. Also up the defenses of classes like Pike and carbineer, they sorta got skipped over on defensewhen all the other classes got run by.

Yeah, I'm not a Pikeman, but please note the important word. Force. Certain combinations are just going to be as good as it gets, and then it becomes a standard. "I want to be good in PvP ergo I have to be a Pistoleer/BH/Commando/Smuggler." or what have you. Granted there are still several options depending on what aspect of combat you want to be good at, but you're still looking at limited choices. The stakes have been raised amongst the best of us, where the only way to compete at ALL is to be the same profession mixture. Stacking more forces a class based standard than not stacking does.

Well, I don't think I've ever replied to a topic concerning game mechanics, but the passion has infected me, so here's my thoughts and they're not new- I'm sure.

I'm a Master Commando. Yes I can burn things. Yes that's the only thing I can do. No I don't know why I had to master unarmed combat.

And due to our magnetic ability to attract blaster bolts, rancor claws, and bantha slobber, I decided to spend those few skill points I had left over and invest them into defensive mods. So I grind away into TKA into a tree that I will never use except for it's bonus's. I climb all the way up the fencing line to get more of those bonus's. Am I going to use any TKA moves? Do you really think I'll pull out my sword when I can burn them? No. Why? Because all Commandos are arsenists. Shame on you for not knowing that.

The point is that though I could have invested my dearly horded skill points on things much more useful, like making camps, upping my pistol skills, or devulging in the much loved medical profession, I ditched them all for the benefit of not getting slobbered on as the mama bantha chews my bandolier. It seemed like a fair trade at the time. And now this...

I hate to say it, but this really putsa downer on this game being skill based where it counts. I'm with the others that say "don't do away with skill stacking, just put a cap on it or make it harder to get the higher it gets". I enjoy not getting hit, really. If it was to extreme, lets not swing the chandolier to the opposite poll, let's just pad the walls so it doesn't shatter.

So what about skill tapes/clothes. Say you had a ring with +5 ranged defense. Is this still going to work ?

So, no defence stacking and no bleed/DoT stacking..

Wich means there is no point to master more than one combat proffession..

What should I do with the rest of my skillpoints? I hate crafting, I dont want to be a fancy dancer... I want to have a good combat character.. And after these changes it seems I will only use around 80 points to make that character..

I agree with a previous poster, seems the devs want everyone to be doctors and combat medics in addition to one combat class...

Have played since end of may (beta) and this is the first time I have begun to wonder if I finally have to play another game, or become jedi.

Then again, even though I have never considered quiting before, I have lived through a couple of odd nerfs(got a probot day before nerf, got KDsame dayas timer nerf, took a brake from a character to come back unable to call his pets, and so on), and for the most part I agree they are for the best.. This one I have serious doubts will make this game better.

Time will tell, I hope for the best but fears the worst (wich means I will actually have to get a life )

First of all the combat system has to change cause the way it is, it leaves some people with zero chance to do anything. When a character is fully buffed with 90% comp on, a pistoleer or pikemanor fencerhave practically zero chance to kill them, it just wont happen and thats a flaw in the system. They dont have the weapons or the skills to do it and that means theres soemthing wrong with the system. Carbineers have KD, TKA havespeed and power and kd and everything, swordsman have mind hit and bleeds, rifleman have.... everything including a stun gun that owns even the best composite. The combat system needs a bit of tweaking im personally glad they are revamping it.

TH, since you guys are posting here can we get some kind of idea on what defenses specifically will not stack. Primary defenses (ranged defense, melee defense) Secondary defenses (counterattack, block, dodge) or Mitigation defenses. Are all not going to stack from different professions, or will some still stack like the primary defenses? I think there is a lot of confusion on this.
