Good questions guys..keep them coming and hopefully we'll have the bulk of how the changes affect us figured out by the time of ourmeeting Friday night. I'm asking for answers on some of the questions but my replies to the ones I'veheard about are in bold below.

If you have the time to get on TC once the publish is applied there (should be tomorrow), please do. I want to make every effort to assure we make this transition as smoothly as possible.

But, if that same player could play with us?

No official answer for this but we'll see what we find when we get onto TC with it tomorrow. It would be really cool ifnon-entertainers could have some form of rudimentary dance and music skills so they can play with us.

With the new combat leveling, will entertainers be able to level up to 80/90 or will we be eternally stuck at level 1... as we are now? Is there to be any change with this? And also, maybe a bit off topic, but are Dual Professions now gone? Such as I can no longer be Dancer/Bounty Hunter ?

It does not appear that we will be gaining any combat level or equivalent. Hybrid combat/entertainer characters won't be an option in the new system.

Ikewe said:

It certainly seems to look as though hybrids are no longer possible. Right now that's probably the first clarification I'd like.

I'm sorry, Ikewe, I know how important it has been to you and many others but at this time hybridization is not an option in the NGE.

After that I'd like to know how the new system (or if the new system) will integrate things like CL. Will the rules of no armor, no weapons unless you are certified for them still hold?

At this time, yes.

Do all of us who were a higher CL now become a CL 1 if we choose to go with the Entertainer Class? Or is CL no longer even part of the system?

All entertainers will be CL1. However with removal of agro on Entertainers and Crafters and loss of hybridization and potential for combat skills, CLmay become something that will be irrelevant forthose choosing to play the Entertainer class.

They said crafters and entertainers would no longer draw an agro unless they attack. Does this include if they are grouped with someone who attacks? E.g. if I am onboard the Corvette will I avoid getting attacked?

How does the new system affect the GCW? Does this mean entertainers and crafters can't be "outed" by scans and thus attacked by opposing forces?

I'm awaiting clarification on these two points.

Well, I heard Entertainers were getting not only more powerful buffs, but also some of the doctor buffs as well...so I think it might do good. Image Designers even are getting buffs when this all goes into the one class.

So far, this appears to be a rumor. Not saying it can't happen..but let's keep our expectations in check.

Esharra i read somewhere that the respecs granted are determined by: your CL if you're combat or the amount of skill points invested for Crafters/Entertainers...what does that means for people who have combined an entertainer profession with another profession, like ive done since CU with Dancer/CH (my poor pets )

From the FAQ which Tiggs posted yesterday:

"Each veteran player (existing characters active in-game prior to the introduction of the enhancements) will receive a “re-spec” (change or revise a character's basic skills and abilities) token with ten uses/charges to provide the opportunity to try any and all of the professions once before making your final choice."

I take this as indication that respec opportunities will not be dependent upon your current template. However, I suspect that how much of a new profession you can respect to will be dependent upon how many skill points you have already invested in other professions. I'd take this to mean that my Tailor/Architect could either respect to Entertainer or Bounty Hunter. But my Scout who has only gained a few boxes of CH and the pistols line of Marksman will not be able to respec to a full template of any profession.

There has been mention of pet conversion but you'll gt a lot better information by reading up on it in the CH forum.

Please keep in mind that EVERYTHING is subject to change.

Anotherfew questions now that I read about the testing of entertainer in Austin....

Are the hotkey tool bars completely going away? So that in order to change props I have to open my inventory each time rather than simply click the hotkey? Not to mention costume changes...

Will macros (the ones using /macro) still function for routines, songs, effects, etc... ?

Also, does /target <character name> no longer work to inspire someone? Is it all done via the reticle? If so, is the reticle always visible regardless of what's going on? (e.g. spammy light effects from entertainers or Jedi)

My question is, if Entertainer is to be our class we've chosen, what will we do for our gameplay?

There currently isn't much to do, and very little role in the game. The xp boost can be considered a role, but that's filled by AFK bots.

If I select Entertainer as a class, instead of say...combat....what do I do with my game? Am I basically imposing upon myself a denial of the majority of content in this game?

Being a Musician/Rifleman afforded me the chance to wear two hats - be social, or go out and actually experience the vast majority of content in the game which is combat-driven.

What exactly is it that Entertainers will do in this new system? Because what we "do" right now isn't enough for me - I don't find standing in empty cantinas very thrilling.

I'm right there with you big guy! I think tonight I'm going to use my token respec (yes..stil have it) and go complete combat. See if I like it. If not...then I don't see a reason to stay with SWG. Complete Entertainer I know would not keep my interest for two more years.

From what I heard...not WoW. Think Star Wars: Battlefield. FPS...not autoattack and hit specials, aim, hit a button to fire, hit another button to use a special. FPS with third-person view basically.

But yes...they SHOULD give us more than one per server. But they're NOT.

I have tried all the double elite combat profs I care to try. Recently I was back to Carbineer|Dancer and had returned to the cantinas. There were a few hardcore roleplayers trying to hang on and the rest were AFK masters or those grinding the prof AFK for some reason. It was so very dead. I had actually uninstalled and cancelled because I am simply not interested in running around squashing things anymore. The social scene was near dead and exploring|travelling as a non double elite was very deadly and annoying to boot.

These changes are drastic and I am not sure what to think. I like the idea about entertainers not drawing aggro. I am hoping there will be more meaning to being something besides a double elite combat character or Jedi. We will see.

Maybe this will help both Smugglers and Entertainer profs. We certainly need it. So if this does do something for the entertaining profs and characters outside of combat, I may just stick around, otherwise probably not. Sick and tired of combat and am not remotely interested in Jedi.

Suppose I will wait and see.

I also don't want to play a FPS. If I wanted to do that, I'd be playing Half-Life with my friends.

The uniqueness of SWG's setup has always been its biggest draw. I do NOT appreciate having my choices made for me.

I LIKED being a dancer/tailor. Now I'm being forced to choose between the two, and not only does it damage my character's story, it just plain pisses me off.

I have to go to bed before I make some seriously negative comments.

I've stuck with this game through a lot for the last two and a half years. For what? A complete upheaval of everything I love about SWG.

I cannot be happy about that.

Very importantly for all hybrids:

If we choose Ent instead of our combat side, will we have all the new Entertainer skills at once?

Or will we count as only partial masters at the new profession?

I should like an answer before Live so I can use my current token respec to go GrandMaster beforehand if needed.

I have been an entertainer since Aug 03, Master Dancer since Oct O3, never afk, only starting macros recently.... Although I've also always fought, Zilda is an entertainer 1st... I don't want to drop back to a level of non-mastery. It's bad enough she's being condemned to a ghetto of social play, without insulting my decision to have a non-combat character further.

It truly feels like I'm living in the 1950s... "Oh, go away little girl, play with your dolls... You can't experience any content because you also want to dance"

I foresee that I'll play her rarely, being mostly on my combat alt, who is also going to be wrenched away from what she is....How does one represent a Dathomiri warrior in the new system? I don't want a lightsabre... but that's where I'm being forced.

Will all skill boxes in the new professions be able to be active at the same time?

I'm not sure what you mean by "active at the same time". Please elaborate.

Ok right now you can be a Smuggler/ Dancer/ Novice Carbine or maybe a ID/ Musician/ Dancer; you know a template mix. No two dancers are likely to have the same abailities when viewed as a total character.

So, when everybody becomes an Entertainer- Does that mean you can do everything an entertainer can do, or will there be a mix?

Example:

I can be an Entertainer that all the dances and does all theID but if I do that there isn't enough skill points left over for me to be a lot ofMuscian as well.

or

I can be an Entertainer that does a few dances, a bit of music, and a bit of ID but I don't have enough skill points to do all dances, all music, and all image design.

I guess I am trying to ask if the new system will force characters to choose what all in the profession they can do/specialize in? Or will it be that a top level character can do every single thing in that profession (which is how it is now for a master of a profession)

I must stop now, I think I am confusing myself.

This is very depressing. And what is the point of saying an entertainer or crafter will not be aggrod unless they initiate. With what skills would we do that? I love dancing more than anything, but I also like going out in the field with my love and killing stuff. Even if my skills are weak. It was just fun being able to do it together. Now what do I do? Stand there and watch. Or worse wait at the cantina. This is just soooo wrong. And worse is Iosing our dance partners who also can't have hybrids. I also dont see how I am going to earn a lving in this new system, or how I will have any access to the new content.

/sigh
