because they were fun, was going to MBH, but fell in love with pets. And at the time pistol actually worked Carbine (stocks only), Rifle 2x melee and mobs warping was very common

nope, but the drugs help

What are your top issues with this profession?
A waste of a profession in a SWG universe. Should have been merged with 2 handed in design. And the 4th tree in brawler done something useful for all brawlers like ranged sup in marksmen.
What are your overall thoughts on this profession?
Will drop ASAP
standing side by side both novice pikeman and TKA, with equal weapons
tka hits 4 to 1
tka outdamages each hit 2-1
tka does 8x damage

playing with tka later he's nice enough to drop knuckles so my exp on endor goes from 150 to 800 a kill.

I was jumping up the Master BH what I wanted to be, and got my holo just after Thanksgiving. Pikeman.
Medic Skill? Yes. I think it's completely invaluable to a pikeman or any Brawler for that matter.In Bh it's easier to escape injury but brawleryou're rightupon your rougue bagersets or banthas.
To be honestI don't have much problems with the prof. CourseI'm so low on the chain bigger issues may come to fruition. But I'm taken down Banthas and Humbubbas on myown. I think HAM costs may be to high and the ranged modifiers on most polearm weapons are ridiculous. But other than that.... I'm having grest time bringingdown big stuff. I mean seriously with ther exception of some of the high end guns(Like lightning Cannons) you're going to do much more than the 1500 pts of damage I dowith my Vibroaxe. I'm sure this damage will only increase up the scale. And if it doesn't that's a gripe.

other combat skills: master marksman, for the diffrent bleed moves and for the ranged /melee defence
medic skills: yes, to counter act the heavy HAm cost of polearms when unbuffed
top issue: accuracy is very poor
toughts: intresting profession, its fun, but the accuracy is a big bother

master Brawler, master TKA, Fencer[3-0-0-0] The template gives me the ability to heal myself, selfboost, utilze healpacks with 800+ each heal(one heal, heals all), warcry, intimidation, lunge2,and of course the defenses +CoB duration.

beeing able to supplement the health and action costs of specials when using poleArms, is the sole and only reason I use medicskills. Besides, it's fun to heal your friends in party, or if someone is incapacitated ![]()
What are your top issues with this profession?
The lack of communication with the DEVs and the endless feeling of being neglected

Currently going TK novice so I can heal wounds and get some other combat defense bonus (and pvp).
My forum handle says it. Pikes is busted. Thanks for the mitigation, it helps, we are still busted. Here are my gripes and solutions. As a fellow game designer, I understand the need for balance. As a former QA tester, I know when something is broken. Pikeman class is broken.
Polearms (any kind, oriental or european) were designed for a simple reason: I am over here, you are WAY over there next to the pointy/beating end. It is mainly a defensive weapon in any historical sense. BUT, our defensive skills are the bottom lineWORST of the 4 melee elites. (add up fencer defensive or look at the extra "awareness" TK gets). Put us in line with the other skills. We are so godawful slow, we needmore defense and resists. e.g PVP: TK v Pike, I'm dizzy and knocked down by the time I would have swung once.
We have the same effective range as the other 3 professions, 5m. Make it 8m. (then try kiting me you pansy!) Trust me,the Long Vibro Axehas more reachthanthe Vibro Knuckles.
Counterattack rarely, if ever, works, is it broken? Higher counterattack numbers for the top end of the profession.
Weapons/Damage: Vibro Lances areCRAP. The only time I pullone out is when I am fighting something with 30% or higher kinetic resists. Our top weapon should be something people respect, like a Blast Hammer, or a Flamethrower, or a lightning cannon or Vibro Knuckles, etc. If we are the slowest melee, we should be the highest damage melee, it's a fair trade. Make that thing 4.0-4.4spd and 400-500max damage, ie Better than the LVA...
PVE: I do alright in melee, spitters and shooters wipe me out, no complaints.
Now let's be honest, we all took this skill because Darth Maul was so cool... How did we wind up with the GIMP profession? There aremore master chefs than pikers.There's a reason most of our weapons are STAFFS, we need them to walk after we get the beatdown... My fixes are listed.

My top issues are poor accuracy, high HAM, and low defense.
Well, the only reason I've stuck with pike this long (since the beginning in August) is out of stubbornness and a hope that pike would be fixed. As it is I started unarmed today and am thinking of converting to TKA (i can go as far as novice without having to drop any pike, we'll see what happens when I get there), we have been ignored, proposed fixes have not come through, and I see it as a self-perpetuating cycle, there are very few pikemen so we get ignored and not fixed, and then fewer people begin pikeman and some leave, leading to fewer people, etc etc. What should have happened, as soon as the development team was aware that pike is an underplayed class, would have been for them to examine what in their design caused the lack of popularity, as it is the lack of popularity seems to mean they don't have to bother. I love the idea of pike, the way pike looks, the neat "ching" sound when we hit things, but I am tired of not being up to par with other elite combat professions.

What are your top issues with this profession? The HAM costs are ridiculas, I can kill myself faster than any MOB could dream. Also the accuracy MODs are outragous I miss 4 out of 5 times, and by the 5th time Im almost dead. Our damage is terrible, I should be able to do more damage than a TKA in a hit.
What are your overall thoughts on this profession? My overall thoughts on Pikeman is we are hurting bad. The only time I can get in on a hunting group is with my Guild or if I promise to use a different weapon. When I am with a hunting party I almost require my own Medic in order to survive. The Pikeman should be a crowd control Profession. We have the largest weapon and should be able to attack at a greater distance, and sweep most opponents off their feet. As it stands right now Pikeman are a heavy faulted profession.

Problems: I am a former Master Heavy Swordsman and I used to think that profession was pretty borked in the beginning. As I started advancing through the swordsman class I found that it was pretty nice. With Pikeman I feel the same way, NovicePike is horrible!!!!Even with a VL I found that I missed way way way too much.Aseveryone else statedHAM costs are just insanelyhigh. While finishing up my last 2 blocks of Pikeman I dont hunt unless I am buffed, I could but I find myself poppin a stimevery 10 seconds unless I am buffed.And I honestly thought that pike would be a very high-damage class, but I feel its average at best, Defenses are basically non-existant IMO I get hit constantly yet thisclass is supposed to have some of the highestdefenses in any melee profession.
What I liked: As this was a holo profession for me it wasnt as bad as I originally anticipated from reading these forums. Everyone was complaining how broke the profession is, I agreeit has its opportunities but it could be far worse. One of the nice things about pike is its status effects, Stun/Dizzy/ and a KD. That was something Master Heavy Swordsman never had, All the effects in 2-handed were random. I found that I coulddo the same things in Pikeman that I could do in 2-handed... killing nightsisters, hunting rancors, killing FS npc's it all as about the same. I didnthave the shear power that I had with 2-handed but the status effects made up for it. ALL IN ALL I CAN SAY THAT PIKE IS A PRETTY DECENT PROFESSION, THAT WITH A LITTLE LOVE AND ATTENTION FROM THE DEVS IT CAN ONLY GET BETTER. Iwill probably get flamed for saying that but... oh well

Been TKM for like 4mths so i just kept it. Marksman 0004 just becouse i havnt needed the points yet from my newbie days.

Yes, 3000 so i can heal well with stim b's
What are your top issues with this profession?
Missing, polearm toughness / General Def mods, HAM costs on spec's are insane i have to use lots of sunburns so i dont kill my self when i try to bleed a mob.
What are your overall thoughts on this profession?
Hard to say as im not pure Pike, My TKM skill def mods help me alot i know this.
With good armour, food/spice/buffs i become viable but without these its just a joke i might as well hit my self in the head(or legs as it is
Personally i think they need to give Pike specials a built in aiming bonus of some kind.. since we are slow and HAM costs are hight i think we have that coming and would help make some of the specials more viable imho

What are your top issues with this profession? HAM costs, poor defense
What are your overall thoughts on this profession? I want to love it, but I feel I am being sold short. I only fight when buffed. If I am unbuffed, I do not even bother. I am also a Wookiee, so I am sans-armor. However, when I am buffed, I am fearless. I will go after any mobs and usually fare pretty well.
As for my other combat skills, I only use Master CH for higher XP while grouped and for getting higher-level missions when 'solo.' I can not remember the last time I actually used a pet to tank. I am the tank now. However, Master Brawler is the bomb. I do not know how I lived w/out Warcry2 and Intimidate2 - the extended times of the delay in Warcry2 allows me to own Pikets and Rancors w/out being hit once.
I feel as though pike is missing something though. Accuracy at my level has improved, but it is nothing to write home about. On top of that, I get stunned and blinded way too easily, which leads to many missed swingson my part. We have rather poor defense considering we miss so much. I should think that would be reversed.
After I master pike, I plan on keeping it. Overall it is a lot of fun and it was a challenge for me that I enjoyed - even as borked as it is.

chose those so i can fight both ranged and melee. will master pistoleer soon and have both ranged and melee mitigation 3
novice medic, so i can heal my health and action pool after using a special. really, i should make a macro /polearmhit3;/healself;/pause 7 then loop it ![]()
top issues: 1) we miss everything. forget about dueling other melee classes. once they hit CoB, you'll never get a hit in. 2) HAM costs are too high. unless you're buffed and on food/spice, forget about using specials unless you have a combat medic nearby spamming heals on you. fix those 2, and i'm happy.
this was a fun class to master. more fun than tka. i can say i enjoyed going through the trees and working my way up. was a fun challenge. if only it was more satisfying once you hit master.
