Yes this is true. There were several PvP threads on the Kett board 2-3 weeks ago regarding some uber-players who were pwning the GCW as master Riflemen.

I believe the problem is in range.

Polearms are restricted to <4m to work in melee while the system does not register the rifle as needing a limit: a rifle will work upwards to 80m(?)Melee range with a rifle isat pointblank range and receives minor penalties (I think) but the game does not discriminate the fact that the polearm will not work at all >4m while the rifle will at less <4m. This really is an exploit by Rifleman against non-TKA melee with their defense stacking and as mentioned, it's become the new uber PvP class.

And to be perfectly cynical, this will not get fixed anytime soon -- SOE will dismiss it as an "issue" to be "resolved" in the "upcoming" combat "rework". Many quotes show my negativity, since this is a game breaker when used by griefers in PvP.
