Thread: New to Pikeman? Start Here (Tips and Tricks)
Just a quick tip: If you're just starting out and you finally get leg hit 1, hot key it and spam it to kill low level mobs, it wipes out action pools quickly and the HAM cost is pretty light, when you get stun use that, when facing tougher apponents find which pool your attacks hurt the worst and go for whichever one your opponent has the least of, or alternate between lunge and stun to keep them from attacking.

If you are also a CH and can call two decent lvl pets (20+) at the same time then go to Yavin4 and grab Kliknik Missions. They don't DB and aren't too hard, the XP is between 2k-5k for each one (Depending if it's a Defender, Hunter, Queen etc..) The payout is also good with them at 11k-15k per mission.
I've been doing all my fighting there and can do about 200k+ in a 2-3 hour night. (Depending on how many time the rest of my guild bugs me over GuildChat ...
)
Pikets on Dantooine were my favorite. You can get them off mission terminals, even solo.
Mastered Pikeman in 4 days using the following tricks:
Doctored buffed in all stats
Crate of Muon
Crate of Duranfire for when the buff runs out
Full suit of armor (I used composite , I recommend you do not use your best/PvP suit. I learned this the hard way... get a new suit for grinding).
Meelee Weapon powerup
Long VibroAxe, actually 6 of them, sliced.
PIkets do not DB. I never ever got incapped myself, but it was close a couple times.
Take 2 missions from a terminal (they are the 9k ones on Dant...) and hit your muon when starting the lair. You can probably do 1.5 lairs in the 10 mins before the muon runs out. I found a action bleed , then leg hits, worked quite well. That knockdown area later on really rocks, since you get a lot more dmg hitting them after knocked down (usually only 1 hit before they get up , but it helps).
I did this for my Holocron profession, but will be keeping it. It's 'ok' in PvP. I killed a few commandos, but thats whenI was Doc/PIkeman and could spam heal myself while running to water. I really think that fire DOT needs to take into account your armor rating...

To answer the question about why to use the VL over the LVA...the LVA may look better, but when you have the -50 to hit across the board, it usually ends up hurting your damage per second with all the misses. So until you get the nice +30 accuracy bonus it will help to only use a nice VL (though it does have to bea nice one, if you can get ahold of a nice nightsister one you will do well)
I am a Pikeman 0 1 0 3....trained wrong....wanted defensive...hehe...oh well,
Anyways....I am not sure if I am understanding the use of the different weapons....I see that a VL has less dmg, is slower, and is light armor piercing. Why would I need this if a LVA is Med AP, higher dmg, and is faster?....plus, when looking for melee powerups, what would they be called....haven't seen any yet. this is my first brawler skill, so I am out of the melee loop, trying to break in. Also, thanks for all the posts and tips...xp is slow, and I miss a lot, but I have seen some good tips that I am willing to try. What is a good VL that I should see around...cause the ones I have seen don't seem to be comparable to LVA, but if there is an explaination then I would greatly love to listen and learn...
Currently I am using a LVA, getting buffs and hunting at Tusken fort.
I am going to get mind buffs/spices/foods. Macro a helmet/stim b...so that I can heal w/out helmet but then throw it back on asap. Not sure if it will work like planned but heck, I am gonna try it.
Also, hunting at squill caves may be good xp, but there may be better group places to hunt...squills have alot of kinetic defenses....may be a good idea to hit some other spots.
Thanks for any help you can give.

Come to think of it, my macro idea for helmet and stim b wont work....hehe...nm.
Also, thanks for previous help aswell
I always found that the night sister pikes always have -50 and higher to hit =(
i think that is the biggest downfall of most of the "better" looking Pikes.
I rencelty bought a decent crated one that has -11 to hit. MUCH better ![]()
thanks for the help....later....

What exactly IS this nightsister lance, and what are the stats for it, and how would i get one.
My VL is faster and more accuracy thats why i use that most, sometimes i forgot i equip LVA and i do about the same output... alltho dmg is bugged over heads so my 1400 hit was actually like 770 =\
Sweep is pretty good, but kinda bugged, enemies will almost instantly appear standing about 1 or 2 swings, they dont often 'stand up' if they do they still attack, same with crouching (prone) animals attacking.... uh we cant attack crouched. The nerf on knockdowns kinda sucks, 30 seconds to do it again, kinda gimps pikeman that the only thing they have is kd at low level, and also increased ham for KD. Buff is best idea, i'd suggest high kinetic ubese and medic profession.
0-0-1-0 pikeman Tyr'K on Flurry. -NEED apprentice points, teaching all medic, ranged support, explore, polearm, and that 1 little point i have in pikeman. (Going Combat Medic/Pikeman)

It is not A lance, it's a variety of advanced lances dropped by/looted from the Nightsisters on Dathomir. The term Nighstister lance origins from this source.
The stats on VLs and LVAs dropped by/looted of Nightsisters are usually of great variety and often not in the combinationone wants(which usually is insanely high damage). They are almost always advanced in some sort and usually low HAM costs or a DoT attribute is assigned to them. You know you have found an exceptional VL or LVA when its name is in yellow ![]()
Good luck getting one though, they are rare and now with the recent patchs creature balance I hear Nightsisters are harder than ever... They will use a lot of different forcepowers on you, so it might be a good idea to bring a group when hunting them.
good luck!
arh.. let me just correct myself by adding thatI meant ADVANCED, not exceptional...
