PSG is basically short for Personal Shield Generator. It's not actually "armor" as you would think composite or chitin that you "wear" its more of and item that you leave in your inventory box and you activate. Still some issues with zoning and such when you have it on, so if you have trouble with your PSG try turing it off then on. For the most part though it will give you and AR of 1 (which is always good) and is directed more to Energy defense but still has some ok stats across the board including kinetic. It's fragile though, and doesn't last long compared to the other armor types, so only use it when you really need it. I've read different posts though on whether it can or cant be repaired. The general feeling that I've seen is that it can be repaired a couple of times before it blitz's on you.

i am a wookiee pikeman too - all y agotta do is just get some buffs - go o vert take out a faction pet - and destroy your target (i use a LVA to bleed and then leg hit , then use my VL for a couple leg hits and let my lance kick in and do the rest, believeme - carry all 3)

Hi All,

I've been doing Pike since the beginning and getting annoyed often. I must be doing something wrong which is why I ask for help and advice. I just got to Novice Pike and I'm starting to see a little light at the end of the tunnel but still need help. Why is it so slow and will it get faster, fighting speed that is?

Thanks Everyone.

We're slow because that is how we're designed to be, on the slow side, but very powerful hitters. As you progress up the stances line, you will notice a good increase in speed, and at master, the autoattack is surprisingly fast.

that auto attack has got to be closing in on that 1 second cap. I would be suprised if a decent VL couldn't hit the cap.

Well, working my way up the pikeman line(1/0/3/3), I can offer the following advise to anyone that has just started out as a pikeman:

1. Armor is your life. If I am in a fight, and more adds come in, I have a hot key set up to equip all my armor quick. I wear advanced composite, 59% all around. I don't wear a helmet nor do I wear bracers, but to be honest the armor only gets bypassed about 5% of the time (and yes, head shots do hurt, but I am zabrak, so most of the time I regen my mind by the time I realize I just got bopped on the nogin) This way, also, I can wear the armor without needing buffs.

2. Pets are your friends. I started the game out going for creature handler, so having master creature handler on top of pikeman helps ALOT. Just having something to take the agro once in a awhile so you can pop a couple heals in is invaluable. I have found that by not grouping with your creature you can avoid almost all agro when adds come in, or when you tell him to attack, creatures won't attack you, they attack the creature. You might lose a bit of XP by not being grouped, but well worth it.

3. Doctor buffs. If you don't know what these are, go talk to a doctor and pay the 5-6k to get them. You will make that up with the first piket mission you run. Having your health and action pools buffed not only means that your specials normally only cost mind, but hits regen so fast that if you have good armor on, you never really take damage. This is something that you never leave home without =)

4. For leveling, I find the pikets of Dantooine great. Grab a couple 11k missions, and head out to fight them. I can solo these right now with buffs and armor on. A couple things to remember, though: When you come apon a group of pikets, see how many are female. Females won't 'group' if you attack them, but if you attack a female and there are males (just regular pikets or longhorn pikets) around, those will 'group' up. So, I find the best tactic is to attack the males, kill them off, and then take my time killing the females off one at a time. I start the fight off with sweep till the get knocked down, then use pike hit about 4 or 5 times, and repeat. You can spam specials when you are buffed, so why use the default attack? Action bleeds and leg hits are another great thing if you hit on the action pool with the first PikeHit when they are knocked down. They seem to take 2X damage when on the ground. I use the LVA on em, as the extra armor piercing also adds nice damage. If you do this right, you can rake in about 100k+ an hour of XP, and make some nice cash while doing it.

5. Get novice medic. When you can't find a doctor to buff you, stim-b's are the only thing that is going to keep you alive.

6. PVP - I really don't know what to tell you here. I was a bounty hunter before the holo told me to go pikeman, so I was use to ruling the battlefield. Now, it seems that people just run away from me laughing as they spam eye shot on me. Get in close as quickly as possible, knockdown and get a bleed in, and pray =)

As a beginning pikeman I just want to say thanks for all the posts. I believe i knowa lot better what to do....but I'm a wookie so the armor advice doesn't help. Just wandering what kind of stats someone can get on the polearms. Thanks you guys have been great

What I would recommend for all the beginning pikesters that all you guys have left out is to go to either Tatooine or Naboo, and do some destroy missions involving Diseased Bocatts/Eopies/Sevorrts (Tatooine) or Narglatchs/Chubas/Spiders. These are great for starting out, get between 600-1500 credits a mission, and can get the first three levels of pikes out of the way in about a day. Then it's another day for #4, and (seemingly) two weeks for novice pikeman. Oh, and stay away from Tuscan Raiders for a while.

I heard that the Caves on Dantooine are a terrible place for brawlers... which bummed me out, so I started practicing with my Republic Blaster (I know, blasphemy!). Hopefully I can team up with some friends and get my very own holocron....

I got me a good set of ubesse armor 74% kinetic protection.

The big problem i've been having is finding a weapon that will LAND A HIT! as all of the weapons i've seen have -55/-33ishto hit at all ranges =/

On a long vibro lance? and a vibro axe (i think) ugh at work =p

the accuracy sucks at low levels, the weapons don't help at all. The only suggestion I could make is get some accuracy power-up for your weapon and see if that helps till you get a little higher in the tree. Even then it would help
