Thread: Pikeman Top 5 Responses
Hi all,
Just a couple of ideas the devs couldwork on,(after they have fixed the block issue and worked on the HAM drain for the class) is that we have a couple more weapons that can be tunned to deliver a type of damage. Ie a heat lance, freezing pole ora poison scythe. Creature hunting specific weapons or block bonus weapons. Something to set the class apart from the other melee professions.

As I was passing through here tonight, I wanted to give you guys some insight as to my observations of Gunman21's efforts in the Correspondent forums since it isn't publicly available.
Regardless of what the last Correspondent did or did not do, Gunman is actively fighting the cause for you. As he mentioned, the Top 5 had already been submitted by the time he was placed into office, and all he could do was to work with them as best he could. Most of your listed Top 5 issues were combat related, and as such are supposed to be addressed in the in-progress mass rebalancing the Developers are doing. Since they are already working on fixes to things such as unbalances HAM costs, inexpicably low (or high) accuracy, sparse viable weapon selection, lacking special moves and utilities, and so forth... they are not going to be inclined to put that all aside to invest time and effort into a system that will soon be replaced.
"It will be addressed in the upcoming combat rebalancing." was the response to the vast majority of combat Profession Top 5 Issues. At this point, all we can do is place our faith in the Developers, and arm the Correspondents with the necessary data to help those Developers perform this rebalancing with your desires in mind.
Gunman21 is very adept at stating his facts, data, and statements on the Correspondent forums. He presents his postsvery clearly, professionally, and with just the right amount of force. He comes across as being very rational, and convincingly presents his case. He seems to genuinely care about you, and represents you well. However, you may wish to keep in mind the he can only support you as well as you support him.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again: I respect the heck out the Pikemen on this forum for a variety of reasons. I have confidence you will see the logic in sticking together.

Yep we like our boy Gun(pike)man, he does a great job of listening to us here, and posts often to keep us in the loop. Now all we need him to do is change his name![]()
i have no problem with gunman...my posts were/are directed at the dev's i hope i didnt come off as trying to bash gun".
my main gripe is that all other professions have had some kind of "conversation" with a dev threw posting and reposting...we havent...nothing noda...except for the one above...but we had to get a little nasty for that one...
we wate...we wonder...we dont go into a big tizzey abut "uberness" and "suckige" we post calm and collected...(barring holo grinders being frstrated)...and yet we get no "Correspondents" between what we post and any answers to "yay" "nay" "thats comming here are the #'s" "you guys are going to get "X""...nothing....
while all other professiuons get visited by the "devs" and have there answers eather answerd or responded to.....
our answers are like our ablity to hit the side of a barn......nonexestaint...
this has been this way sence lounch....and no convenitly...it will all be adressed in the "combat passing of gas"....
i feal we diserver the right to get a 4 page docoument of "promisses" listing all that this pass will change for us....it will be a milestone......
we have never gottion a full list of changes to even gripe about not geting...
i belive its about time.....
so i chanlenge "thunderheart" to make a post that describes our changes and issus and what will be done to our class........if he cant come up with it then its safe to say that pikeman are not cared about.

as i said the above are not alowed to be in that post....
so im expecting one of three things...
1.no responce to this challange...and you can restasured that we are ingored and not thought about in this "prosess" of fixing.....
2.more unusefull "dubble speek" mite be intresting to read how good he was tought in school about misleading while not giving any info.
3.a nice post that we should have gottion about 3 months ago...but they were too bussey fixing the oh so broken BH anTKM.etc....

Well, Thought I would post here... I don't do forums... much anyways. I do read about issues and whatnot, so I thought I would toss my thoughts at you guys. Here is what my top 5 list would look like. (BTW, I was pikeman at launch... then to sword, fence, now I am back tp pike and staying =p)
1. Weapons and accuracy. Starting off as a brawler climbing the pikeman tree is very difficult. You miss more than ANY other brawler class, and your damage is pathetic. This is ok, every profession should start this way. Upon Lance, not much is gained... Lets compare weapons. Swordsman is a slashing weapon... therefore they should have light-0 AP... pikeman is a pierce weapon... heavy-medium AP. I play the tabletop Star Wars RPG, so this is alittle bit of my reasoning. Ok... LVA, that is cool. VL... sucks. I crafted an uber VL with 2.2 speed or something like that, but the damage is medeocre... 95-300. Look at Swordsman's damage, and a HAMMER!? Since when is that a slashing weapon? Last I looked, it is a blunt weapon... maybe better suited for a "Master Brawler" weapon. I think that all brawler trees should do CLOSE damage at the same levels. AP is the thing that should be the deciding factor, and damage type also.
2. HAM costs... this was covered before, but when I saw how many specials I could pour from the other brawler trees... it is just sick.
3. Lack of content... some really neat unique specials would be great. Keep in mind we should be the AP class... so maybe some thrust moves, thrust and sweep... slash and thrust... trip and thrust... something cool.
4. More PVP mods... not much more, but some defences... or even attacks would be great. I don't think everyone should have to dish out for a +10 polearm skill tape like I did. Skill tapes should give you an edge, yes... but they are required if you want to PVP at all in this class.
5. Balance TKA to match the rest of the brawler skills. I know, this don't look like an issue we should care about... but in hunting, PVP, PVE... TKA is crazy. It is not balanced to the rest of brawler, which is why so many flocked to it so quickly. Once all of the brawlerclasses are more evenly balanced, we will fall into sync.
I think if everything here gets done, we would be pretty decent PVPers and PVEers. I put the one as first because I feel it is most important. If we can get some kind of edge, that we should have, we would be a great class.
The main issues i think right now are these
-Weapon Accuracy is HORRIBLE
-Weapon Speed is VERY slow at lower levels
-HAM cost HAM cost is worse when you take into account the Accuracy
Solution for the first 2
Change the modifications you get when leveling
Example right now in the 0-0-0-X
when it is 0-0-0-2 and 0-0-0-4 you get +15 accuracy bonus. Why not spread this out throughout the whole tree? so at 0-0-0-1/2/3/4 you get smaller bonuses say +7 or +6/+10 etc
And do something similar for polearm Speed.
Also polearm seems like a pretty long weapon maybe the range should be increased a bit.
Something else.
If we bleed action and focus our hits on action then our combat equalibrium should mainly target the action HAM.

You know...I was browsing the TKA forums and re-read their Top-5 Issues Responses...If you get a chance, take a look and see how specific the responses are, and how time is being made by the devs to fix their issues soon. We get these vague non-responses that hold no value whatsoever.
I don't have much of an extra point with this post, I'm just re-ticked-off at the moment reading the difference in the attention given by the devs to the different classes.
