Can romeo or any of the other higher-level pikemen tell us about their experiences with block?

Ok... I have a thought on our toughness.
I had thought that the idea was we were to outdamage other melee.. and in return have less defence. This did and does make sence. I honestly would prefere this to making all melee equal. Can we get some idea if this is supposed to be the case before we run off and ask defence to be put on par with everyone else?

Ranged vs. melee is a dead and tireddebate which has been going on since SWG was a glint in the dev's eyes. Fix the blaster bolts through walls, yes, but otherwise, Ranged deserves to have the advantage over melee (and yes, I do PvP, and no I don't have ranged skills) through distance fighting.
On certs, yes, we need more of them, and (like all combat professions) we need them to carry on up to Master. It sucks that you stop getting new weapons as soon as you hit Novice Pikeman. I'd also like to see weapons with more diverse abilities, not just that one's always better than the other when it's tweaked out (i.e. three weaponsone with higher HAM costs, one with higher attack speed, and one with lower damage, but the other two stats are better on all of them). It'd be nice to have weapons with skill bonuses to (i.e. defensive pike = +15 to block).
Toughness and accuracy... Those 2 togther are a death trap. When i hit i can kill blue cons crazy fast, 1 or 2 hits... but then some swarm and guess what... i start missing... not only am i getting hit by 3 or 4 different creatures but i'm also using polearmhit1 and missing almost EVERY time. Its very annooying cause i end up being incaped, i'm usally super pissed off at this point and i just log off. Now I can understand me missing once every 10 hits or so but when your hitting every time for like 15-20 hits and then you just start missing all over the place... i'm talking 5 or 6 times in a row thats just... retarted! I don't care if you have neverd picked up a stick before in your life... if some oversized bug came running at you you wouldn't miss him 6 times in a row...
This is understandble when your fighting a white or up con, but a blue?
If you went pure melee expecting to be able to hold your own agaisnt ranged guys, think again. It does not make sense that a blaster guy cant kill me if we start really far away. Plain and simple you have to get the jump on the guy, if you dont and have no range, you better be lucky. Look once you get higher up all you have to do is tap your enemy with any special attack and it is almost a guaranteed one hit ko if they are holding a weapon. Look with my long vibro axe i can kill almost any ranged with polearm hit 1. If i hit they die and that is how it should be. But if start at 100 meters away even with burst run i aint gonna win!!
Just accept it, we are not the end all be all. We are a **edit** class that is fun to play.
i think that many of the people in this forum dont quite get what a "pikemen is" traditionally they are the most defencive thing in an army they were ment to dig in for when cavalry came and fend off lots of attackers.
i belive that pikemen should get abilities that suit there weapon like a "fend off " ability where u have a % chance to hold a opponent at the max range of your weapon, dealing less damage but making it very hardfor the enemy to get a hitdue to the range. Also i beleive that pikeman/women need a "defencive stance" ability warese they can fend off multiple enemies at increased defence but slowing his/her attack rate down alot.
thats my two bits i just think that pikemen should focus more on keeping there enemy away from them and using the increased rage of there weapons to an advantage
Stop focusing on minor additions to unnoticable abilities and start focusing on a major issue...Melee vs Ranged in PvP.
Jeez the TKA forum has a huge thread on balancing this one issue alone!
PvP is broken. They need to fix it, this should be your top priority. Period.

The whole idea in making minor additions to unnoticable abilities is to make them noticable, right? Otherwise, why would one be working on them. Our correspondent is doing a great job so far, and I'm glad he is NOT focusing on PvP melee vs ranged because that is always going to be imbalanced no matter what, especially til they fix the shooting through walls bugs that are going on.
