Jealousy is a terrible thing, so what you've been a pikeman for a year, you never bothered to get with the program, that's your own fault pal...this game is ever changing, people like to change things up to keep it fresh...what you want a no-dot game? Then stick with pve.
Another thing, the loot is catching up with the game, Day 2= no looted weapons, Day 400= there's alotta friggin loot out there...
With the armor out there, pikeman do as much damage to me as tkm's, swordsman, and fencers, stun armor sliced for eff. only accepting over 86% on yur pvp suit is a good idea, always re-equip your psg, stun eff. sliced of course, always intimidate, eat synthsteak, and be fully buffed, do this, I guarantee you'll draw everytime in a no dot duel with unlooted weapons...yeah draws are fun...I like to win, I use dots, and I'll use more of em than anyone else until the devs make me do something else, more and better than the next guy...
In closing, get with the friggin program, or cry more noob, cry and cry and cry until they take dots out of the game.
Master Pikeman/Master Rifleman, I'm not a FOTM, this is what I am, this is what I'm gonna be!!!!!! And it's not my fault that I took the time to hunt obsessivley on dath and loot all my own weapons to do it all better than you.

I'd rather they remove the whiny pikeman who refuse to **edit** or get off the pot. And I'm not a teenie, I'm just a random noob who knows how to pvp, not whine because I can't. What in my post was less immature than wah wah I don't like pikeman the way it is so I'll **edit** to change it. I thought my post shed some light on the fact that other profs have dots, pikeman do as much dmg without dots as every other melee profession if you approach the fight correctly. Also I'll repeat the amount of looted dot weapons goes up EVERYDAY. Sorry if I post with a lil inherent anger, but whiny **edit** piss me off.

Comparing the DOT attacks that most professions have to our looted weapons w/ DOTs? Apples, oranges.

okay i started pikeman waaaaaay back in august of 03, let me say this, though i'm not playing the game anymore, the devs lack of attention to the broken combat system is one of the main reasons.
this is Psykeman420-HS for those who know me.
for those who don't, lets say when I played my pikeman I was always a part of the pikeman community which is one of the reasons I loved the profession.
At one time, Master Pikeman, was one of the rarest professions, only jedi edged us out. Not just combat professions, professions period. The uniqueness of being a pikeman back then was refreshing, you didn't see 100 people swinging around Vibro Lances with the coolest animations in the game.
Now I used DOTs in pvp before I left, I still think they are completly ridiculous. Requiring looted WEAPONS for a profession in SWG is not only a bad move it hurts the economy.
The devs stated long ago that "Player created weapons would be better than most loot weapons" their exceptions were Exceptional and Legendary weapons, this is where we SHOULD be.
Now if we required some looted componets like say Acklay Bones or Krayt Tissue, it'd be less of a problem, and why is that you may ask, well because those, even though they do vary, do not vary so greatly as some of the DoT pikes.
Just because its the only way around the 80% armor right now doesn't mean that its the right solution, the right solution is to fix the problems, not use workarounds. We need to get on par with other melee professions, damage types need fixed as does armor, yea i know all this and more in the combat revamp, spare me.
Personally, when hunting NS, I was the one looking for High Damage weapons, even towards the end, yea I used DoTs in pvp, because I had bases to protect, but in duels I preferred non-dot fights, DoTs on the whole make the game boring, as well as armor being so good. There is no longer any skill involved.
I remember when getting a set of Composite armor meant getting an Acid protection helmet, to counter eyeshot, a flame or kinetic chest, electric or energy leggings, and things like this so you had to pick wisely in order to get the kind of protection against what attack people were using, instead we have stun armor that can be sliced to crazy high stats and reduces the effectiveness of all attacks other than stun and DoTs.
The reason so many veteran pikeman are upset with the DOTs being a workaround is simply because it shouldnt be required to go stand around 12hrs a day on Dathomir or spend millions of credits just to be as decent as someone who does half the work or less. We should be able to compete without that. This is not EQ we should not have to camp Akxva Min at 4am PST, and we should not have to worry about the ub3r l3wt.
Simply put, you say sh1t or get off the pot, I say the devs need to get off their a$$es and do something about the problems, not rely on players to find work arounds to a flawed, at best, system of combat.

Newsflash! you have no clue how to pvp. The fact that you are making one of the most fun proffesions in the game into 'cm with a stick' doesnt seem to even occur to you. Would you say a CM (before nerf) 'knew how to pvp', i doubt it. Guess what, you're no better.
(Btw i have my mind fire pikes in storage now [sig] because i realised just how much damage they're doing to the proffesion, maybe you should too?)

Most people who got into pikeman for the DoTs couldn't care less if they're doing damage to the profession, they're in it for their own power and nothing more. They didn't care about the profession before mind fire lance #8745 came into their posession and they won't care about it after it's taken away.
If (or when) they destroy the profession they'll move on to the next big thing without blinking an eye, or they'll cry about their 40 million wasted on lances and post saying they're quitting because the game isn't fun without an I-Win button.

You took that literally...I've been pvping since about the 3rd week since launch..come to ahazi, I think the random noob statement went over your head. I know how to pvp, I know how to deal with the game as it is, I've already showed up a handful of people who said exactly what you just did, well sir I am more than my dots, I hover around a 1700 pvprating, and I have a knowledge for the workings of this game that most don't seem to have, it enables me to deal with this game as it develops and moves on, I can adpat to what it is. I'm not saying dots are good, or dots are bad, I'm saying they are here, and there will be more everyday. What the dev's decide to do about it is not up to me. But I'll tell you this, I'll still be considered an above average pvp'r whatever the end fix is for this, as I've always killed more than I've died.
BTW...I use action fire, and I'm not storing them until everyone else does...

Because It's GREAT To See A Circle Of 13 Storm Troopers Around And All The Sudden 11 Of Them Are On Their Backs From One Attack!!!!!! I Think This Is Quite The Kodak Moment....
And The Occasional 5.5k-7k Unstacked Hit3 While Theyre On Their Back Is Great Also And This Is Coming From A Master Swordsman For Life Turned Master Pikeman With Teras Kasi Master Thrown In For Fun Twi'Lek =]

the problem with dots/fires is that for mostly any profession right now, they are the deciding factor in pvp. also, mind pool attacks fall into the same category. I tried one day using no dots. Im master pike, and I was fighting another pike who was nt using dots either. WE FOUGHT FOR 15 MINUTES, NO ONE WAS EVEN GETTING HURT. c'mon, we're wearing 80-90% composite, we're buffed, we're brandy stacked, we're not using DOTS or FIRES. this is very very common.dots/firesare the only wayto win right now.I guess we shouldcall them the flavor fo the month. until the developers deal with armor, the HAM system,doctor buffs etc. etc. etc., pikeman should NOT BE FEELING GUILTY TO PLAY WITH DOTS. They are not ruining our profession any more than they are others. once armorcaps are decreased (thank god) we can all actually start hitting HA pools for good damage, and we wont need dots!

Don't be made at a pikemen who uses dots in pvp, be mad at the devs that made it so our only viable option in pvp was dots. Who cares if more people are coming? Play the game how you want they can play it how they want.

understandable, to say the least.
Personally, i try to avoid using DOT weapons in general pvp. (like to save them for the few occasions i go jedi-hunting so i can dot-stack the jedi and kill his force) Then there's the few times when my action fire lance (which i looted myself)and my past as a CM pull at me to dot some guy. Maybe it's weak willpower, or maybe i just love my CM past too much, but i can never seem to help it.
