Thread: The pikeman definition, as given by pikeman

I've always liked this idea. I wrote a post or two about it quite a while ago. It's all due to the split personality of the staff versus the pike. One is primarily a defensive weapon, one is primarily offensive. This kind of dual nature would make us truly unique. The concerns about being in the middle and therefore not good in a mixed group setting are valid concerns and so we'd have to have something that would make us good for group work.

ok .. while I like the Idea of Lance 60/40 and staff 40/60 ... the others won't
I mean .. it's like asking to be good in offence and good in defense by only switching weapons ... like if we were a fencer/swordman
So I do not think we should have more defenses with a staff, however we should be better crowd controlers: Better speed, lower HAM cost (or agility cost whatever post Combat Patch), better accuracy, but no defenses.
So our staves would have very low damage, next to nothing, but a good way to keep people on their asses, stop kitters, pin people, apply states, etc etc while our others party members can do the real damage.
OR
Switch to the lance, slower, less accuracy, higher HAM cost (don't forget it will be important post patch) but higher damage. No defenses penality, but a less effective crowd controler.
