30/ 70 = a lil fencer
60/40 sounds alot better for someone that has a long pike.
come on if your reply to a post from a swordsmen getting 75/25 why would you post 30-70 for a pikethat means that at those rates afencer or tka to be hitting around 15/85?
I bet your aswordsman undercover....yeah I knew it

To all you people that are saying you want more defence or more offense....
Reread the initial post. I think that we shouldn't argue for more of one than the other. If they do implement the changes in a way that gives us as Pikes the option to choose if we will be more offensive or more defensive via switching weapons, then there's no need to say you think we should be more offensive heavy or more defensive heavy.
Each and every person will be able to decide for themselves what kind of Pikeman they would be. Or you can go battle to battle and change your tactics to suit your enemy.
In essence we would be like the nature of water.

Well put.
Altough I usually don't change my opinion based on arguments of other people, this really made me change my mind.
Forget what I said about the staff one post above.

Swordsman is asking for 75/25 offensive/defensive. This proposal puts us 60/40.

Nice work Gunman...
However, the one critique I have (as a ranger)
the skill /rescue is an area of effect /taunt
Rangers get the /rescue skill at Trapping I, and the mods progress as you get up the trapping line. Most rangers never use this skill because it (obviously) draws multiple aggros on you.
Just the other day, I used /resue to save an unbuffed friend from 4 rancor. They dropped her like a hot potato and proceeded to attack me.
Used well, its a great tactic... however, I think that /taunt2 should be a unique ability rather than a clone of a ranger skill.
how about, /taunt2 could draw a single critter from a normally social group of animals, npc's.
This is a friendly critique and a clarification for those of you who dont know that that ability is already in the game.
thanks

oops, I need to be more specific.
/taunt will draw an aggro creature off of a person.
my suggestion:
/taunt2
will have a chance to draw a non aggroed critter away from its pack without aggroing its social buddies.
just a suggestion open to critiques
sorry about the wording, im still under my daily coffee requirement.

That would be awesome. I really like that idea. Then it would cut down the need to try and pull single mobs with a ranged weapon.

Also, just for information...
/taunt is used by targeting the animal you want to draw away from a target,
/rescue (Ranger skill) is used by targeting the player you want to save from imminent danger.

With 4 melee professions, it is difficult to assign capabilities. We see swordsman as the most damaging yet lowest defense profession, fencer the complete opposite of swordsman, and teras kasi somewhere in between.
i assume you mean for future plans? because right now swordsman owns us in defenses..at least toughness and the ability to stand toe to toe with creatures.

Awesome work Gunman, my ony suggestion is that you ask them to remove the Posture Change from Hit3, the only time I've seen it work is when I finaly get something Dizzy/KD'd, then it works and the MOB/NPC gets right back up.

I've always liked this idea. I wrote a post or two about it quite a while ago. It's all due to the split personality of the staff versus the pike. One is primarily a defensive weapon, one is primarily offensive. This kind of dual nature would make us truly unique. The concerns about being in the middle and therefore not good in a mixed group setting are valid concerns and so we'd have to have something that would make us good for group work.
