Historical Note.....

Look at our main weapon, The Long Vibro Axe...It's not a Pike, it's a Halbred...We are more Halbrediers(Spelling) than Pikeman....Ironically Halbrediers(Spelling) Were trained to break up Pikeman lines....

This entire analogy is a bunch of bullhonkey.

If you want to be historical, it was never the individual soldiers that won the battle, but the use of those soldiers in units.

Individually, the USE of the weapon is what dominates the opponent, not the weapon itself. Musashi defeated hundreds with his swordagainst polearmed opponents by getting inside the swinging radius of the pike, and attacking low. It is STRATEGY that makes a weapon work.

BESIDES, SWG is a broken game. Why are you even trying to make such a class comparison when there are many, many other things that need to be fixed?

I will check my combat log, but I definitely saw something that looks like counter-attacking for the past few days since 9.2 (perhaps 9.1) went in. I would be fighting 5 Jantas/Mokks at the same time and concentrating my attack on one of them when out of the blue a damage shows up on one of the others that I WAS NOT attacking. Mind you, I DID NOT use area attack, in fact, I recall I wasn't using any special. I was busy getting my pet to attack the one I was attacking. And if you think it could have been the pet, my level 19 Bearded Jax does not dish out damage at 1100 to a Mokk/Janta.

I'll try to capture my combat log or even with a screenshot. But as for Polearm Evasion, I absolutely saw somthing like "Bleh swings at you but you evaded" in my combat log. I'm not sure if this is the effect of the +7 to Polearm Evasion, but I like to think so. I'll try to take off my bandolier and belt and see if it makes a difference, ie. the occurrence of evasion decreases.

SWG melee professions were designed to encompass the use of a class of weapons not just a particular weapon. IE fencer use batons and gaffi sticks which are blunt weapons AND bladed weapons like the rantok sword, curved sword, vibroblade, and regular sword. Half of the bladed weapons listed are dual sided and half are single sided. Usually a master of a particular weapon only used one type, as the combat theory behind multi edged and single edged bladed weapons is different. Same thing for swordsman with cureved two handed swords and cleavers, not to mention swordsmen also use axes and hammers. Its a fundamental weapon class, weapons that require two hands to use. As such pikeman encompasses all polearms, or shafted weapons. This would include simple lances, long axes, halbreds, staffsand probably pointed stabbing weapons. Again, the combat theories for all those weapons I just listed are very different. So basically it makes no sense that melee classes in this game can do the same combos and moves with fundamentally different weapons. The whole system is screwed up. You wouldn't strike someone the same way with a blunt as a cutting weapon, one slices as it draws the other is designed to create the greatest impact. In other words, I encourage you to think of yourselves not as pikemen per se, but as polearm specialists who use a variety of weapons.

if it was just a one off - that can happen. Apparently theres a miniscule chance that you will block/dodge/counter etc.Having the right weapon quipped thats linked to that secondary defense will kick in your modifiers to increase that chance. I think anyway

It was not one-off occurrence. I have seen it happening from time to time, not all the time I have to admit. It wasn't the weapon that gives me these skill mods. I've got a total of +7 to polearm evastion duck-taped to my ubese bandolier and padded armour belt, as well as +10 to polearm counter-attack. I haven't checked my combat log, hope will get a chance tonight.

while i agree with some of your points, the game will never adhere to the historical uses of weapons.
