do NOT, NEVER, EVER EVER EVER do savage quenkers, they now spit and kite you, waste of time, do normal quenkers or even better Huurton stalkers.

Their "kiting" is not strong. All you need to prevent this is armor, and using your lunge attack when they start to run away. If you get them kneeling they will stop and you can go back to attacking them. From my experience their kite attack is no stronger than their regular attacks. It's just like being attacked up close by them.

also, out of a group of 5, only 3 will kite you...kill the two closest, and the others will move in when they are dead...

but I personally like quenker ravagers, just watch the poison.

Guys,

I saved pikeman for one of my last holo profs thinking it tough because of how much folks complained about it. Actually it's one of the easier professions. When I did most of the other brawler professions, I stayed on Dant because pickets where dropping very high OQ herb meat. I came upon this thread wondering what I would level on for this prof.

So I've hunted gurks on Lok, Quenkers on Dant and Gurrecks on Endor. Gurrecks are best. They are vulnerable to electricity and have low kinetic resists. The drop wooly hide which sells well. They spawn in bunches and they are SO easy to kill. Honestly it's the best exp of the bunch.

There is no change that SOE could make that would not cause people to protest. Whether they are nerfing the overpowered or giving love to the under developed, whether the change is small, or far reaching, someone somewhere will complain, protest, call it a 'slap in the face' and start a petition.

I have to disagree about using a lance or a metal staff for leveling from 3 to novice.

I find that berserking with a speed sliced lva gave me way better dps though sometimes i would miss 5 times in a row...

I found that decked out in 80% kinetic, using an LVA and Spin attack on Sharnaff lairs works a treat.

At first it was about 50-60k exp every 20 mins but now I'm 4,0,2,3 and have Spin Attack II it's more like every 10 mins.

Easy to get solo groups and plenty of 'em spawn from each layer at 3-4k a pop.

That's actually what I did, I just said use a lance or metal staff for the people who hate missing all the time

I used a lance until novice pike. I found a nice 30-280 2.6 speed lance, worked rather well. Low ham costs on it allowed me to just spin attack the crap out of quenker lairs, gaining mucho xp in no time flat. At novice pike I had a bit of surplus combat xp, so I got 1 box and 1/2 the next. Then I used my VL again with quenkers mostly to get to the second box for accuracy. BTW, tip for those seeking mucho combat xp. Get a case of c12 frag nades. Everyone has the cert for them. Kill monsters are normal with your pike, pitch the grenades at the lair. What will happen is instead of weapon xp + combat xp for the lair kill, you get combat xp + combat xp. I was getting around 3600 combat xp + 360 combat xp for each lair kill.

I then had +100 accuracy, and a decent player crafted LVA that was only like -17 or -21 accuracy, so I hit very very frequently.

Some other pike tips.

level like this.

100X
200X
201X

Reason the first thing you'll want to do is get speed and accuracy. Pikes are slow and inaccurate. Then once you get those first set of speed and accuracy bonuses, spend some xp for you first set of devensive bonuses. I'm going to go

201X
202X
302X
402X
403X
404X

I'll finish speed, accuracy, and defense before working the specials tree. Then on to master pike!

I tried using C12's when I was going for the Doc/CM combo. (They might've fixed them since I tried that, it's beena few months)

Does it matter how much damage they do? Because they were doing 7-10 damage for me......
And by the way, that was a GREAT basic lance. (and a good and accurate LVA too )

EDIT: I've figured out why the C12's didn't work for me. For some reason the Dev's thought that wookiee's shouldn't use grenades unless they're commandos.

Grinding Pikeman myself right now and I'm not sure if any of you knew about this, but there is a chef food that improves accuracy.

It's called snowcake I believe and I pop one before I grind anything. Almost never miss now and just need to get the speed trees.

Good guide. The stats on the snowcake I have is +37 to weapon accuracy
