Thread: #1 issue
Please, please, please reword this question. It should be two questions. It should be "what is your #1 issue for pikeman in PvP" and then "what is your #1 issue for pikemen in PvE". I believe everyones answers to these might be radically different and should be presented to SoE as such.
#1 issue in PvP: (i haven't PvPed much, exactly why my answer to this question would be skewed without breaking them apart)
#1 issue in PvE: Can't tank. Tired of hiding behind some CH pet. I've got reach and range (or at least should have), I should be the master of keeping things at bay.

this is xactly what a pikeman is....
Ok my issues as a 1,0,2,1 Pikeman on Scylla.
First off, We should be GODs of Defense, take a look at Darth Maul, who weilds a double ended weapon (essentialy a pike) and easily defends from two swordsman (jedi) He spins doges and weaves interlocking and using both ends to their maximum effect. And in the end He only used one move to win, a forward stab. If you look at the battle most of his moves are defensive orment as distractions, as he waited for the perfect moment to strike. The fact that we do weild Big polesshouldrelate to our damage but I wasthinking there are really two main ways to use a pike, 1 is hold it from thecenter and use its largecenter of gravity to attack/defendquickly with both sides at a cost of power, the other is to weildessentialy like a hugeSword and do stabing andsweeping motions by holding it at the base, This however is much slower and harder to block with but adds a ton more power behind the swing. So I think Pikeman should have a multi function ability. Like we can change stances, Like in one form weare primarily defensive and our block chance Doubles, but all our damage is cut in half. Then another we can switch to That lowers our blocking chance amd speed but like triples our damage. That would give the pikeman a definate plus.
Anyways Im rambling, but if you want to know my biggest problems are: Defense (we should block), Accuracy (let us hit a gnortif its3 feetaway and not moving?), Damage (If you dont add defenseQuadruple the damage, we need an edge in something), HAM costs (well if the damage ges up then this should stay the same, or change over time, but if we getdefense LOWER THIS),and Range (yeah I know he said he doesnt want to make range a defining characteristic, But isnt that what the defining characteristic of marksmen are? Anyways If you dont change anything at least give us a bit more range)
If there is one identity we can get from the movies is that the Emporer's guards are pikemen. This is the role we can be. We should be geared for offense and massive offense at that. The Emporer's guards are the first line of defense for Palpatine and should have the power to stop anyone in there tracks at the get go. I'm not saying we should be super strong but stronger than anyone else and our weapons get the job done if we are accurate. This is my #1 concern, accuracy. My long Vibro-axe damage is from 60 low to 400 high. This is good damage, I think anyway.

add a dizzy affect to the knockdown that would solve the problem of the timer issue
seeing as the TKA has a dizzy knockdown, which in pvp the victim cant stand up

Once again, I'm going to pleade to everyone to NOT send in an issue which is ALREADY being fixed (accuracy, block, tank, HAM) See combat designer proposal which was posted a few weeks ago for more details.
It's everyone's choice, but why send in an issue they're already going to fix? lets get something diffrent fixed.
My bigest problem has to the non exsistance of our defense modifiers. Yes accuracy is a very important issue but i think it will be fixe(-51 to all ranges is rough and i think they know this). The KD nerf and so on sucked when it happend but to be honest i have thought of it much lately. I have learned to fight without KD.
One of the main reasons why i dont thinki feel the,HAM costs and the killing yourself before the enemy kills you, more is that right now burn rates on your mian stats really dont matter. So in my migration i have shifted by burnrates all the way down and boosted my main pools and regens to the levels i wanted. Yeah if i spam specials my HAM will go down significatnly but whos doesnt.
But to my point about defensive modifiers. What do they do? They dont even work. The defenses vrs dont work at all. I had an idea once to be a "uber" brawler and get the defensive lines in all the elites. That quickly went down the drain because i found out it made no difference. Pikes are supposed to be a defensive class. We are gimped in the toughness more then any other profession and it gets pretty rediculous if you ever duel a master TKA with composite armor on. Honestly they take about 20 points of damage a hit. We need the boost in defnsive stas the most because i know that i more often then not are called on to be a tank in a group everytime i go hunting. Different skills can de gained to help with this but i do not want to have to rely on pets of medic skills to survive in battle.
