Thread: #1 issue
I agree that they do finally seem aware of many of our concerns. All of them need to be fixed to help the class, but those fixes won't be happening until they implement thier "new system".
All of those fixes can and will come down the line. IMO priority #1 is to come up with what our role is in a group, what is our niche? If we can come up with some good ideas for the Devs to explore, all of the other fixes will come down the line.
So what are Pikeman about?
1) Old thoughts were some crowd control with KD. Is there no other way for us to fill this niche? Some kind of stun or AE stuns that can keep targets from attacking for some amount of time or drastically reduce their accuracy. Maybe these attacks will have to do little damage to be balanced. Lots of things we can do here.
2) Poor defense but mega Offense. If that is our new goal then we need to do the most damage and by a reasonable amount. We don't have the benefit of cover, range, or toughness of other classes, so we should be devastating.
3) With mounts and vehicles in the near future perhaps we can be the masters of mounted combat. Maybe Pikeman will be the ones that can rush those distant rifleman or charge wildly at AT-STs doing bonus damage while mounted or something.
I'm sure there are other ideas as well. Here are just a few that came to mind.
So let's decide who we are and define our profession, then we can worry about the details to make that happen.

The fact that we destroy ourselves. Define it how you like. We miss a lot, deal small damage, take huge damage (both from within and without), and generally have no purpose.
I would love it, if at some point in the future (soon), a group with breathe a sigh of relief when they found out that a Pikeman had arrived. I don't care why they are happy (crowd control, damage machine...). As it stands now, they groan in dispair that a Pikeman has arrived. Better bring your own meds, and a tank, and a high level of med use...this is not a combat class, this is set decoration. I have to stand toe to toe with an enemy. That is the deal. Cut me some slack.

i still think the kd/nerf needs to be adjusted for us considering the defensive tree is so important for us. and yes i have had to adjust my play style since i cant use kd anymore.. and i mean that.. i dont use it anymore cause it either misses or doesnt knock anything down (if it does its for 1 sec only if that) and i just used a hugh chunk of my ham for something that doesnt work. they need to change the kd timer for us in some fashion to bring our entire defensive tree back to where it should be. i want to be able to crowd control i loved that when kd was working properly now im a laughing stock to everyone.
toughness is also an issue with the accuracy problem.. we miss so much and take so muchdamage whats the point. so far many pikeman are ch/medics.. cause we cant fight alone..and that's a sad sad statement!!
ham cost are outrages.. i do more dmg to myself then the creatures do to me by using specials.. im relegated to using 1 maybe 2 specials before i have to stim myself.. again .. that's just wrong!!!
and i also agree there is nothing special about pikeman anymore.. before ou area kd's where what made us a welcomed part of any group.. now.. we are the black sheeps and no one wants us with them cause we are a liability when before we were a valued memebr of the groups. very few pikeman say this but i have seen on boards they dont ened kd.. well good for them..cause most pikeman did and still do, i know i still do, i want my ability to control mobs and monsters it made me feel special i could go tow to tow with something and come out hurt.. but alive and triumphant! we need that feeling back.. and i believe adjusting kd for our profession would do that! all the other changes as very much important as well, but if they wont fix those give us back our crowd control abilities again!

Using lances from horseback
Throwing the 'weight' of the weapon around
-Crowd Control
-Trips, Disarms, Knockdowns
-Ability to hack through armor via sheer force
Fighting against large creatures
-Good against cavalry (classic pikemen)
-Good against giant creatures (dragons in fantasy)
Keeping melee opponents at bay
Flashy martial polearm moves
Impaling people on it or, better, spiking them to the ground with it.
We had the crowd control and still have the flashy moves. However, I'd like to see a defensive move that can damage rushing mobs/players, as well as some bonus that represents our awesome reach. Attacking a pikeman means that one first has to get past the pike in front of him/her. Defense should be decent as we are supposed to be guards. I'd really like to see a damage bonus versus large creatures. We definatly should have bonuses to wielding our weapons when mounted. Maybe a cavalry-charge special even. (Then we could joust!)
As for damage, we've got a big weapon so it should move slowly, but have a profound effect wherever it goes.
HERES A BIG ISSUE NO ONE TALKS ABOUT MAYBE IM ALONE ON THIS,IF U ASK ME ARE DPS IS FINE IF THEY WOULD JUST MAKE ARE STANDARD SWING HIT ACTION MORE INSTEAD OF ALL MY SPECIALS HITTING ACTION WHILE ALL MY STANDARD SWINGS HIT HEALTH. THE WAY IT IS I ACTUALLY END UP KILLING BOTHHEALTH AND ACTIONBARS TO TAKE A MOB DOWN
BUT BESIDES THAT I AGREE ABOUT DEFENCE WE NEED SOMETHING TO PROTECT US SINCEKD IS GONE NOW

I didn't read all of the thread, so forgive me if it's been said.
My biggest issue is the fact our defensive line moves(KD and area KD) are useless. KD must either be changed by lowering time between moves and raising time the target is down, or give us completely new moves.
Our mandate was to be the melee crowd control experts, but with that horrible KD nerf, we're just cannon fodder.
Oh yeah, I don't want /tank, I want passive defense.

#1 Issue for Pikemen is Defense. The KD was awesome and I personally would love to see it re-instated (even as a temporary fix until the bigger combat changes are made). However, Holo stated that he wants the timer in effect becasue he thinks the act of keeping an opponent from attacking is not a good defensive move. Therefore we need massive upgrades to melee def and toughness.
#2 Issue is new weapons The Accuracy modifier is too '-' for the LVA. We need new weaponswith more damage and more/resonable accuracy modifiers. Hopefully these new weapons wont be slower than 3 seconds since its hard to get off the specials in a timely manner in the beginning of a long fight.
For PvP we need to have timer removed or as they planned to have range extended to 15m. Else we are a target practice joke for ranged.
