I don't know why you guys are worried about the trees and requirements. You all think that to effectivly stack still will be to take up another melee profession like fencer or tka. But a little advice, unlearn all that you have learned.

This system is gonna be totally different than before, imagine that SWG hasn't launched yet, and your just reading about the combat details.

Also, stacking will still be around, but not in the same sense as before. You won't be stacking for just defenses anymore. Your main profession might be Pikeman, but your other profession choices might decided what kind of pikeman you are.

I personally am going to go Commando/Pikeman after the CU comes along. From what I have gathered from the hints dropped here and there, templates will be about what professions will affect the other, and make each other better in combat. You will be effectively be choosing your main profession, and shop around on what kind of skills will cover weaknesses or give you a slight edge over some opponents, and most importantly cover the play style that you love. I myself love to be a heavy hitter, that is why im giong to choose Commando/Pikeman.

yeah unlearn what I've learnt!!! Got no choice as I am currently pikeman/doc which is impossible under new changes and where does this new faith in the devs getting balance right and treating profs with respect come from? Only way players are going to get that is if they get going with the beta soon. Faith is based on trust and trust has to be earnt. Considering the vet rewards were brought in just before this announcement so that people had no chance to learn, ask yourself has it been earnt? I am gonna crash now as just enough info to bother me and not enough to create excitement in this great update.

Well as gunman is reading this I thought I'd chip in here. If you can feedback to devs I am currently MPikie/MDoc. Why is it that pikie takes up more xp under CU than some of other melee masters and why is it they have killed my second prof? Not talking about buff weakening as we all expected that to be played with but can no longer see any point in being pikie/doc as cannot rely on my mates being on when i am and no longer is a soloable prof cos can't master my melee any more :-( I think i play this game too much as this announcement has made me miserable. This means that the great leap forward reads to me as if they have killed the combat/other skill balance for my Chimaera main (and indeed the entire game) and pretty much trashed the combat opportunity of my Farstar 10 point WS which means that that was a complete waste of time and effort because the (excellent) 12 pointers are now uncompetable against. NowI do not even have the chance of looting my own kit or tradable skilltapes to get there :-( Ah well, if I don't cancel i'll still be a pikie but I've never been so disappointed in the 200 odd days i have been playing this game :-(. Fat lot of chance the devs caring tho. not surprised the curbs been put back until after the next release when it was promised before the last one. That's 2 lots of cash they'll squeeze out of us just because we are fans to be ripped off.

And to the guy that said pikeman wasnt a good part of a melee stacker template, you must be crazy. DOTs for PVP and high damage poles for PVE, sounds like a good all around offensive prof to me

I'll bet you that both DOTs and high dmg pikes will both take nerfs of some kind in the CU.

yes but the guy was talking about the current system and how he thought pikeman wasnt a good part of a melee stacker prof, and i was pointing out how wrong he was, what isnt gonna get nerfed, they need to start calling it the combat nerf instead of upgrade
