i honestly think because its a lance the max damage should be lower than the long vibro axe, but it would be nice if it was benificial to use. I would like to see it (because of its rarity) something like this:


3.0-3.5 speed


150-175 min damage


300-325 max damage


+10 acc mods


35/35/35 H/A/M costs (seems fair to me)


and then the dot's being slightly stronger. It just stinks that these lances take such an insane amount of work to obtain and the benefit is hugely disappointing.

Ok, I see a lot of talk about making it so we can damage Min and retrieve the schematic ourselves. A lot of talk about making the EL a better weapon. A lot of talk about making it a little easier to get via a quest instead of taking out the toughest woman in the game.


This most likely should be in it's own thread but here is something I would like to see in regards to Pikeman, loot beyond the DoT Axes and Lances. I would like to see lootable Vibro Motors. Some that would reduce HAM costs, Increase Accuracy, increase damage etc etc. I would like to see an optional slot added to Lances and Axes for adding things like polearm shafts, blade variations to allow for things like changing AP at the cost of something else.


If the DEVs are going to stick us with so few weapons, then we need some kind of flexibility with them.

Wait wait we were on to a great idea here.

You want to keep the weapon really rare - so make it only attainable by a master pike through some sort of quest. Keep it difficult as it damn well should me, but you still need to improve or change the stats to a more resonable level befitting the weapon's rarity.

I agree I don't want to see a NSEL on every corner. or ppl running around with it for show. So only a Master pike should be able to obtain and use it. And if its some hologrinder, then let them get the weapon but once they drop master make it so it won't equip or drop - sorta like the breather from the genosian labs or the Eye goggles from the platinum edition pack.

Paying well for 600+ damage polearms on Gorath...why is it every other server gets loads of awesome polearm drops from NS but not ours....Only seen one NS lance over 350 damage and I own it

Either will work. Basically any npc whose name begins with "Nym's" seems to have a chance to drop them. The only ones I've seen give +20 to damage. You need a set of 4 identical motors to make an LVA or a set of 3 for a VL.

I think a few things would fix the Energy lance to bring it in line with it's rarity.

1) Keep damage and speed around the same, give it medium or even *gasp* HEAVY armor piercing.
-why- This should not be seen as unbalancing with a higher AP due to the high energy resists found in various armor, creatures, and NPCs. Being the "hard hitting" melee class, we should have a heavy AP weapon. Even medium would help.

2) Increase the Max damage to around that of the LVA, while increasing the min damage higher.
-why- LVAs have a large range between min and max, and going against any player with Damage Mitigation III will eliminate the threat of our weapon. Give the Energy lance around a 380-400 crafted max, and a Min that is about 100 points higher then the min of the LVA.

I don't think either change would be game breaking and unbalance melee any worse then it is now.

I don't think there is a good reason to change the schematic to a quest.

The reasoning behind people asking for this was to make it obtainable to master pikeman.

But think of it like this.

If it is turned into a quest. The way to get it would be simple and straight forward. people would come up with a method for doing it. Stream line it. Then do it quickly. They will be all over.

Why do this when you could just put the certification to use the weapon at master pikeman? Won't that have the same effect?

And for arguments sake. Even though the nightsister energy lance is a pikeman only weapon. The schematic is not. The schematic is a weaponsmith only item.

I prefer the thing to just be rare.

If it is a quest, it will not be rare.
As it is now, only people dedicated to the pikeman class will probably bother to get one.

If it is a quest, then it will be rutine for people to go get one once they grind out pikeman, before they drop it all and start their next grind.


Anyway.....


what i would like to see is....


a MUCH smaller range in damage.....

max damage on par with the long vibro axe....but a minimum damage that is much more....

like a good LVA is about 125-370 damage... well, more like 300-400. that kinda ratio.

Armor piercing 2 would be nice. Three would be awesome, and not missplaced at all. Seeing as the weapon is scarce.


I would like to see a Varitey of desises/poisons/burns on it though


I don't know if this is even possible the way the game is made now. But if each one of the two vibro units contributed a DOT, along with what they currently do.

This would requre them to have seperate serial numbers though.

Maybe it could require another component or something, that effected the DOTS.

I just think it would be cool if we could effect that. And it would still be so rare, you wouldn't really have conroll over it. People would just have to make due witht he first two they could get their hands on.


I suppose the Vibro units could have two DOTs on them randomly, then you pair them like that. That'd be cool.


The only down side to that that i an see, is that people would use preciouse nightsister vibro units in things like...vibro knucklers.


I dunno, it's just a thought to kick around.


More energy effects when you run around. If the weapon is gonna suck, people had better at elast be in awe.

this weapon has only 3 uses. 2 are for pvp. first being that the range mods are significantly better. you can stick your dizzies, kd's, stuns and whatnot with this weapon a lot easier than you can with an LVA. second, it has 2 disease DoT's. granted, they're not that powerful, but they do take their toll. especially with long drawn out battles. and if you're being kited, you know what i mean. sometimes you can take up to 5 minutes to finally catch up to someone. ok, maybe not that long, but it can take a while, and they do whittle them down. third reason is to just show off. i don't konw how many /tells i get when i'm holding this thing. of course i do it for attention, but i get about 100 tells a day when i have it on me.


with the rarity of this weapon, it should be vastly improved on its usefulness. i'm not saying make anyone with it uber god-like in pvp. just make them respectable.

You know.. I've really enjoyed this game because I could play it in spurts. I could hop on for an hour, get some real work done, see some progress, and log off. I understand wanting to keep this weapon rare, but jesus tap dancing christ, I do not want to play Everquest here! I don't want to compete with a hundred other people to get to Axkva before them, because she only spawns once a day (so the speculation seems), and even then, to be rewarded with a pittance of credits. Never mind that it can take an hour to just -organize- your team!


The drop rates are ridiculous, plain and simple. She needs to spawn more often (like every 30 minutes), or she needs to drop the schematic every time (put the motors elsewhere, that's fine).

I think the NSEL is fine as it is... Would be nice to have skill mods on it as well, but I think a better idea would be to get more Pikeman weapons added to the game... Maybe a new weapon based on the Emperor's Royal Guard - Imperials can run missions to get the schematic at the end, Rebels would run seperate missions with last step of killing someone to get the schematic from the body, and Neutrals would have something similar but run from Jabba's Palace...

What about the thing that every damn fool can now walk down and kill her because they are all TKM without any forcepowers......geezes what a **edit**ing waste of time gathering a big group over and over againand having a real hard time to kill that girl.....for what? finding out that 1 month later 1 master swordsman can clear the cave including axkva min by himself......STOP WASTING OUR **edit**ING TIME

Not so! Pikemen still can't hurt her (aside from dots). So some damn fools are still out of luck.

This is supposedly being fixed in the next publish. Next month they'll all be riflemen/cm's.
