oh well .. if you guys think doc isn't necessary in your template that's probably because the PvP situation isn't like my server .... on Kauri it is IMPOSSIBLE to fight with being dotted by a CM and/or Pikeman ... and often by some crap that hit for 700-800 mind/tick
On Kauri 50% of the PvPers are docs ... the rest are CMs
If your server isn't there yet ... well it's awesome =)) And maybe you won't need doc after all
Anyway ... all the servers are different ... check your server situation before picking a template ... if it's the dots madness like on Kauri you will need at least Doc 4030 ... if it's the Rifleman madness you might want Ranged Mitigation III (Carbineer is good then ... you can KD the kitter than switch to your pike) ... if it's melee madness well you better take a melee stacker template with TKA, Fencer, Pikeman, etc ...
There is no ultimate Template (thanks god) ... it depends on the situation

master pikeman - master brawler -doctor 4-0-3-0
polearm lunge 2 ( the best counter attack against ranged) - intimidate 2 (the best defense against melee and ranged) - warcray 2 (the best friend for dots)+ more acurancy/speed/toughness
