I can't say enough for the effectiveness of the Tatooine Sunburn. This increases one of your action secondaries, if I recall correctly, and basically eliminates action costs for specials. I never leave home without them, and I never enter combat without being under the influence of one. I can spam specials to my heart's content and never takea dent in my action bar. If you're a pistoleer and you haven't tried using these, you really are doing yourself a disservice. Visit your local chef today, you won't be sorry


And no, I'm not a chef.

As for the question of why a pistoleer would need moun gold; if you have medic skills and wear armor it nearly impossible to regen your mind pool with composite armor on unless you pop a mind buff. Moun is the only way to go unless you can find a master dancer to mind buff. When I can't find a doctor buff I normally use Tatioone sunburn to buff action and keep a moun handy to pop if my mind bar wears down during prolonged combat and multiple heals or mind hits. Moun provides an instant 500 point mind boost, so its good to have one on your tool bar for emergency situations. It can make the difference between life and death.

Master Doctor buffs are the best and good ones can last over 2 hours! Doctors can buff all your stats except you mind stats. For the mind you would need a master dancer buff or moun gold (for short term emergency buffing).

thanks for the reply wildbill. how about the strength on the dr. buffs. if i get a master doctor to buff my action stats will i be able to spam specials like i can with the tatooine sunburn?

I need to try Warning Shot more, but doesn't this battle plan cause the creature's friends to attack you?

The "trick" I've been using (learned about it here) with good success is more or less:
MaskScent, Kneel, Bleed1, Bleed2, Peace, wait for the critter to start bleeding ant attack you, BS2 until the thing is dead. The advantage is that the critter's buddies rarely seem to notice, so you basically have a one-on-one fight.

Or does the above Warning Shot technique essentially achieve the same effect?

As I stated before the Doctor buffs enhance all your stats except mind. The amount of enhancementand duration youreceive depends on the quality of the buff, which is why I suggest Master Doctor buffs. Even then the quality of materials used to create the buffs comes in to play. In general though you can expect that your Action will be in the range of 2000+, Quickness to be 500 to 2000, and Stamina to be 500 to 2000. With these stats you can wear the heaviest of comp armor and spam specials all day without your action bar ever moving. The mind at this point becomes the weak link, which is why mind buffs become necessary.

Pistoleer would benefit more from an Action spice. Snaproll has put together a nice guide to spices which is stickied to the top of the Smuggler forum and contains details on all spices, such as what they enhance and how long they last.






Kinda silly post...

With Doctor buffs and Muon gold I have 3000+, 3000+, 1600+ in my HAM pools, and very high regen rates on everything. With these buffs, I can easily solo Rancor lairs for 5-7k weapon xp per kill at 2242 pistoleer, and probably could even earlier. (just get PMD1 and Stopping shot)

Sue, you're right, you need to watch out for the friends. Since Mask Scent is no longer broken by combat, anyone with Explore 3 or 4 is usually okay. The friends don't usually notice that you are attacking their pal. Warning Shot is NOT AOE, so you would need to target any friends that Agro, and send them running with about three Warning Shots in a row. Your tactic is about the same, except you are not using Warning Shot. If you are escaping the group agro now, it should work with warning shot as well.


When Warning Shot is most useful is when you are hunting big game (like Torturs or Tortons) without a pet. It will keep that beast away from you without you running like a madwoman all over the place.

Can a Master CM, Master RM do pretty well at soloing Krayts, Geo Cave, 'Vette and other stuff. Would a CM 4-0-0-4, MRM, and some doc skills be better for soloing.

I really don't see why everything has to be soloed in this game. Krayts aren't meant to be. The Geo cave isn't meant to be. And the Corvette is not meant to be. Things go much better in a group and they are much more fun!


That aside, you can solo krayts, the Geo cave, and even the Corvette(from a certain point of view). Make sure you have 80% composite and are buffed with plenty of mind food/drink/spice ready. If you stick to 'little' krayts, I think you'll be ok with MCM/MR. If you want Giant Canyon Krayts or Ancients(perfect example of why soloing isn't everything, but the choice is up to you), you will need enough Doctor to heal those nasty status effects. If finding a buff is a problem, you'll also want that part of Doctor instead of another CM line. You're also going to want enough rifle speed SEAs to reach the 1 second cap(+7 will take care of this ).


To sum up, there's almost nothing you can't do with MR/CM/Doctor.

pitty u cant do that. master rifleman (only rifle tree) and master doctor leave me with about 17 point not even enough to get much or anything in CM. though to me i hate solo i only do it to keep the tax man away (metaphor) i do a few solo run to get some quick cash if i need it and go back killing the thing i want with whom i want. a good tank a rifleman and anything will fall in no time. (best tank master swordman/master doctor i believe).


soloing is:

1. boring.

2. crap.

3. slow.

4. unfun.

5. not worth the effort.

6. do i need any more really.


to sum up soloing is for making the odd cash from missions.


but if you really want to do it start on Giant Dune Kimo was first things i soloed. (took me about 30 mins where as with a group they fall 6 min flat tops.)

just wait this whole solo part of ur life will pass young one and you understant ITS CRAP
