Hologrind originally. Once I made it past Novice Pike, I started diggin' Pikeman. I'll definately keep it after the DoT nerf...
Oh, and for the girls

Because it was the first melee proffesion I started back in the day when I was a creature handler, but never finished it and ended up doing commando instead. Always had a fondness for pikes and decided to pick it up after I lucked out on a decent mindfire.

I joined the Pikeman ranks because of me one day wanting to use Kir Kanos' weapon. I've stuck with it because more than the other professions I have tried.

Because there were few Pikeman when I decided to do it ... Antares and Ark were the only 2 known Pikeman of Kauri ... I always tried to avoid the "crowd" ...
And now ... well I can't drop it lol ... I've tried .. but I just couldn'twrite "yes" in the small thing rofl ..
Pikeman is awesome ... it looks just so cool and the AoE are nice ..
Dots nerf ?? BRING IT !!! I'm tired of being called CM ...

It was actually my first intended profession when I first started playing last August but the first 2 boxes with a really slow ass wood and metal staff discouraged me until I finally picked it up a month ago and really like it. Also the LVA, area attacks....and for the girls.
I don't use DOTs unless I'm facing tough targets like Ackley, enhanced Klikniks, and so forth and I don't dare to use them in PVP.

Kir Kanos is bloody awesome. and the move animations are the best out of all the melee classes.

i've been a pikeman since launch on kauri(except when i did the hologrind and am now ashamed i did because of the way jedi turned out). i guess i'm not known. i've always liked pikeman even when they nerfed the **edit** out of us. i will probably be a pikeman till i quit.

I took up pikeman because I just had to try something different than TKA... I wanted to be more effective in higher end PvE and I wanted to be different, which is why i did not do swordsman. I am not sure if I will be keeping it though but so far I like it.

the pike specials animations are just so damn cool (cept for that girly leap at the end of polehit 3)

I think the animations are cool as well 
The only problem I have is that my character is set up for rifleman as I'm master pikeman as well as novice pikeman (0031). I like the ability to kill lots of things at the same time, so far this is only rogue corsec troops
I also don't use buffs or armour, as I discovered last night when in a group going sharnarf hunting this is not allways the best idea for my character. Thankfully a helpfull master doc came along and kept me up

Back when everyone was a TKA (moreso than now) and even fencers were rare, I gave up unarmed 4 to go fencer, and when that bored me (before the acklay batons, fencers couldn't handle anything in the Geo cave alone) I decided to give another profession a try. Pikeman was being whined about constantly, saying how horrible it was, so I decided I wanted the challenge to try and "unbreak" the pikeman proffession. It was fun, and I eventually droppedit to do the hologrind (at least the holo portion of it).
