...i don´t know a pike-weapon with one of those damage-types...
back on topic:
imooverall swordsman is a bit better...but havin both masters is just amazing....

The aforementioned NSEL is energy damage.
Got me...
U are right its energy but imo ap1...against ar3 i doubt thata pikeoutdamage a swords with ph(ap2)

I totally agree with that. A swordsman with a decent crafted hammer should easily be able to outdamage a pikeman with a NSEL against an elder.

I ran into the same problem! I wanted pikeman cuz its soooooo cool and VERY useful with a good LVA but wanted swords cuz of the blast dmg and awesome attacks so basically i decided on my new PvE template

Hi to all pikeman, i was just wondering if you could help choose which would be better. I want go either pikeman or swordsman, my situation is i would have enough to buy the tapes needed to get the speed cap for either proffesion and i would want to move intomostly high level pve and also hunt jedi and the odd bit of pvp. I think its a tough decision as both are the "heavy hitters" of melee, but are very different in terms of the block / counterattack sitution, toughness and types of specials etc etc.
Any ideas?

I would say swordsman > pikeman
I've been a 2h swordsman with 96 speed and and a pikeman with 94 speed...so speed wasn't the question.
The problem was pikeman don't have as good of weapons or specials, i had a 3.0 818 max damage ap2 kineticlance...and 800+ blast damage acklay hammers.
Lets take a look at the moves a pikeman has vs. swordsman
<Pool attack>
Pikeman [action] polearmleghit3 = 3.0x dmg mod
Swordsman [mind] headhit3= 3.5x dmg mod
<random attack>
Pikeman [random] polearmhit3 = 3.0x dmg mod
Sworsdman [random] 2hhit3 = 4.0x dmg mod
<area attack>
Pikeman [area] polearmspinattack2 = 3.0x dmg mod
Swordsman [area] 2harea3 = 3.0x dmg mod
Ok so swordsman can attack a better pool, and do more random damage than a pikeman...area attacks are the same for both of the classes. Swordsman get ap2 blast and kinetic, pikeman get ap2 kinetic and ap1 electric...and sworsdman weapons are much easier to come by.
In a pvp situation? I would say pikeman because they can easily access DOT lances dropped from nightsisters. In pve? swordsman all the way....no question about it. Also to get those lances, swordsman can kill any nightsister on dathomir because of blast damage, pikeman cannot. Swordsman will also kill nightsisters quicker than pikeman will due to their 3.5x headhit3.
My suggestion is to be both with master brawler

I agree with your conclusions, but your pike numbers are a bit off. Unfortunately, except for hit3 we're even worse off than your numbers would suggest.
leghit3 = 2.5x dmg mod
headhit3 = 3.5x dmg mod
polearmHit3 = 4x dmg mod
2hhit3 = 4x dmg mod
polearmspinattack2 = 2.5x dmg mod
polearmareaattack2 = 2.75x dmg mod

well last night in the geo caves, I was ODing, A group of TK, a Swordsman, and a Master Pistoleer, by my self using area attacks, to the point they asked if they could group with me to get some loot..

If you equate better to more fun, then yes pikeman is WAY better than swordsman. Damage-wise, I'd say they are similar (swordsman are probably slightly better given equal speed and no uber-looted weapons) But really the only thing you won't be able to kill as fast as a swordsman is a NS elder......not much of a loss IMO

I am a 4004 TKA, Master Brawler, Master Pikeman, and 2444 Swordsman (I'll master it in less than half a buff session). I must say that I like swordsman more. Why?
I tend to PVE more than PVP, and its much easier to solo large mobs when you can do rediculous damage to the mind, and mind alone.
Now dont get me wrong, I love pikes. If it weren't for having Master Pikeman, I never would have leveled Swords as quickly as I did. Because of these stupid FS quests, I had a lot of extra Combat exp, so I could wield a scythe before I had even finished the techniques line. And, when I do actually PVP, its nice to drop some mind DOTs with my pike, then go to work on their mind with swords. I bet if I were speed capped I would enjoy Pikeman even more, but as it is, I can kill almost anything faster with Swords.
