Thread: ???? Fencer-TKA-Swordsman-Pikeman ????
Dear lord people. The game has been out for two months now and people are still making the same statements that they did when the game first came out.
TKA's do not heal damage quicker than others. They can heal their wounds quickly, but only at Meditate level 4. A lot of people have been given the wrong idea about the class simply because of this one little falsehood.
Secondly, TKA's have a very serious issue. In order to do even decent damage, they need to use Vibro Knucklers. This has two implications:
1.) Since you can only use Vibro Knucklers once you reach TKA Novice status, that means that you will be doing lousy damage throughout the whole unarmed tree. Actually, from recent polls, the Unarmed fighter is the weakest of all starting combat professions. You can only do worthwhile damage with Vibro Knucklers, at least until you reach Master TKA status and then you should be a bit more decent with bare fists.
2.) Using Vibro Knucklers increases your HAM costs dramatically. Sure, TKA's can use knockdown, but it costs usually around 1k in HAM damage and that is not an exaduration. This also means that most of their other special moves are very high in costs (though knockdown is the highest of all costs).
So before you bad mouth the TKA realize that if they want to use any of their special moves, they either need to use bare fists (and do lousy damage) or use their Knucklers (and suffer from high ham costs). They also have the shortest attack range of all classes, 3 meters. This has caused so problems when fighting large mobs. Also, they are the slowest brawler class to advance through.
In addition, all of the other brawler classes are likely going to receive new weapons in the near future's patch. However, TKA's won't likely get any new weapons. I agree that the Swordsman, Pikeman, and especially the Fencer are all in need of some fixing, but please don't think that the TKA is all that much better. We have our own problems.

Even after they moved the cert., you are still better off using them than not, with the gimped damage (you'll hit for at least as much as with your bare fist, and you'll hit quite a bit faster).
Well being all melee is fun for some players.
It all depends on how you play.
I've played master of the melees..
Teras Kasi and Fencer are the fast attackers from early in their careers and on.. They're more oriented toward using status effects
Swordsman and Pikemen are more of the power hitters. They're more toward dropping things fast and swiftly.
So to speak.. it's preference..
Do you wanna go after people Cloud-style with a huge sword?
Do you want to go into combat twirling a staff?
Do you want to rush into combat with a rapier or a ryyk blade?
Do you want to pull a Bruce Lee?
Just go with what you like looks wise.
