Besides, I've never used intimidate and warcry, never had to. I know I'm going to have to change my play style after the CU.
I was ranged only till I tried out a melee character recently, and I had never paid much attention to intimidate/warcry. Then I went on a krayt hunt with a different crew than my usual bunch. We got wiped out much faster than we were expecting, and we all thought that there had been a huge sleath-nerf damage boost to Krayts. We later discovered that none of us had bothered to intimidate, so we were recieving twice as much damage, and none of us had used warcry, so we were facing more dizzy/kd specials from the canyon+ varieties.
Since then, I've paid more attention to those states, and I must say that even in the current system they are extremely valuable. With NPCs and MOBs in general using special attacks more post-CU, warcry will be very cool, and intimidate has always been nice.
The thing that I find weird is that those specials are very defense-oriented, yet TKA is supposed to be the melee defense king. I suppose that intimidate and warcry benefit the entire group rather than just the individual, so it makes sense to see them as "crowd control" defenses rather than pure defense for an individual.

Pikeman is also classified as a Tank.

So in theory pikeman is going to be just as good as what we do (tank/crowd control)as other professions are at what they do right?

btw, I noticed you had Master Marksman pegged as a PreReq for BH. for BH now you only need 0004 Marksman and 4000 Scout (or I'm just reading the small print wrong). no longer need a Novice Mastery to get into a Elite profession in the CU.

Actually Ranger still needs Master Scout, and we are an elite profession.

Ah so Scout/Ranger still have the dependancy. I missed that one.

If my understanding of the general+specific stats stacking is true then we don't actually come off too bad. See my post just above. We are 2nd in defense to TK, and 2nd in accuracy to Swordsman, but we are still the slowest

Ah, thanks for the catch.

I added the new toughness mods for TKA that were just implemented.
I suppose this was added to keep TKAs from dying in one hit when their avoidance failed. We'll see how balanced it is.
That's the idea generally. All the professions ratings (i.e. 4/4/1, 2/4/3, etc) add up to the same amount, except Jedi.

What has me worried at the moment, is through fencer, swords, carbines, and unarmed we have the lowest offensive damage output. The metal staff at polearms 4 is half the damage of the compared weapons here, unarmed seemed to be about in between polearms and fencer.
What that means in a literal point is that at lvl 16 a level 14 mob will eat me alive if I am trying to bring it down with a metal staff. This was before last nights patch though. Hopefully they upped the damage of the pole4 Metal Staff but I doubt it.

Pikeman will have advantages in areas that the other combat proffesions you mentioned do not, at least that is the intention, so it should be balanced.

Look at the chart. We have no advantages. We are either average or crap.
But there really is more to it than just these numbers in this chart, though I have issues with the way several of them work out...Pike has intimidate and warcry, skills no one else has, for example. TKA doesn't look like it is super defensive from this chart, but it is in fact going to be the most defensive non-Jedi profession because of other aspects.
Of course, that doesn't mean that there aren't issues to be looked at as seen in this chart.
antares
Actually from what i've looked at this isn't _exactly_ true...pistoleer (the ranged "crowd control" profession) has an intimidate attack and some other attacks that effectively are warcry. I can't remember exactly, but if i'm mistaken on the warcry bit, check out smuggler and you'll see that there's attacks there that also halt and affect movement, attacks, etc.

I havent been on TC-5 yet, but maby we will make up for our speed being slow with having higher damage weapons or the "crowd control" specials.
