The problem with melee/range would be that there is no overlap, ranged attacks will not work with melee obviously, and vice versa. Other than that it should be decent.

This is key, but most people won't see it like this. Any combination of professions, even now, can be enjoyable, but most people think power = fun. If some magical template isn't found that lets someone do everything, it won't be fun to many.
As for armor, yes, expect it to become more expensive. The AS changes are asinine and its going to be quite comical when the customer realizes what the changes mean for them.

(with some FS and scout 4xxx)
on live I have

Master Swordsman
Master TK
(with some FS and some Medic)
I will be able (unless I change my mind) to fight without armor. Big pro. As it is now armor decay is fast as **** and as said before will most likely be very expensive...
This template would make a nice tank. (because of inimidate and warcry) And dual-master=lvl 80=max health.

I'm heading for Master Pikewoman/Master Swordswoman/Master Brawler as well. I just prefer the melee style, and i love being able to tank things, but swords will be interesting, espcially with the damage dealing. I did consider going for a ranged profession, but to be honest melee is my favourite playing style.
Shame they've destroyed Dancer or i would have stayed Master Pikewoman/Dancer

Testing this template out. Has no ranged abilities so PvP will require good team work, but as for PvE, this may work sweet. Great speed, very good ranged/melee defence, good damage abilities, and power boost. Unsure how healing will work without medic.

Been testing Master Pikes/Master Brawler/Master Doctor on tc-ep3 now and so far I've been pleased. Might not be that great at 1vs1 but when groups come into play, that's where it shines. A good doctor can keep the front line alive for a long time even when the fighting gets really tough.

I play to leave my alt as Pikeman/Brawler/TKM and just change my fencer def for swords4043 
It will be fun never having to wear armour due to TKM, now i only need to buy armour for my jedi's main!

Armor prices may go up, but I predict one of three things is going to happen:
Scenario A: Think ahead: the market will right itself. There's always someone willing to sell for less. This could mean many things, i.e. 50-150cpu for Wooly Hide just won't fly anymore. The Rangers would need to adjust. Whatever causes it, as soon as one guy is able to sell for considerably less, everyone else is forced to. Welcome to capitalism.
Scenario B: Armor becomes so irrevocably expensive that no one can afford it. Yeah, this sounds bad but imagine it.. no one is wearing any armor. You'll take more damage but so will your opponent.
Scenario C: I think its unlikely that the devs want us to pay 1 mil for a suit of armor. I don't see why they would want that. If the predictions are correct and the market cannot right itself, I'm sure some publish will come along and change things around a bit to help it out.

Agreed. I'm turning Ily back into pikeman/TKA (I was using a Mon Cal alt for my pikeman for awhile due to frustrations over armor and so forth), and I'm thrilled I can finally be a big naked Wookiee with a polearm.

I'm considering a similar template to yours butkeeping medic 0040 instead of taking fencer. I've got 4 FS branches unlocked but not sure if I'm going to get anymore now
I'm currently Master Pike/Master Medic/4440 Doc/4000 Marksman for sniping, so the respec is going to be interesting.

The TKM thing is interesting, I may have a quick dabble with the respec (since it can be done once every 12 hours) and see how i fare as a Master Pikewoman/Master Brawler/TKM. I'm enjoying swords - but i do like to tank too?
Lets run around with extremely revealing skirts shall we....

This is similar to my template. Suggest picking up TKA 4100 for improved CoB, when it works it's a very powerfull ability. Also, I'mnot sure how much those FS skills are going to help you. I know that they take a lot of work to get, so keep them, but it does detract from the template a bit. I'd get rid of fencer since tier 1 won't help you much and put those saved sp into TKA on the combat xp line for better accuracy.
