Gee Typheous, it's all about your +25 skill tapes.

Pikeman is definitely slower than Fencer, Pistoleer, or TKA... or even Master Rifleman.

wow i read this and all i can think was wow whine much? crap i agree with what he is saying, we arent that bad... sure a lil better speed a lil more dmging attacks LOT less HAM costs and we would be bad ass like all the other flavor of the month class's, guys we are pikemen cuz we like it, if you dont like it you would have dropped it by now...... We arent much slower then any other class i can out dmg a TKM like he is nothing... and im sorry area KD and dizzy are the best attacks ever... just know how to use your class. Dont whine cuz we arent as uber as all the class's that are gunna get nerfed...

well imo pike is a nice pve proff. and looks awesome, and works well against ordinary tkm's etc. but, i once had a 140 melee def on my tkm, wich cause a master pikeman to only hit 2 out of 10 hits, now they are gonna limit it to 125, wich is very high against pike still, now with the 200+ accuracy to tkm pikemen and other will have a hard time when they cant stack like 220 dodge etc, but it all makes sense, and noone can expect every class to be a killer in pvp, bh's are a pretty bad pvp classs as well, the same with commando's wich only hope is to light up a person, and just a correction, tka's are the highest dmg per sec class in the game without any comparison

Its funny. Every time there is a post like this, they always reply later that they have either/orspeed or accuracy SEAs, a high damage looted LVA, or the defense lines of Fencer and TKA.

We're almost as bad as Jedi when it comes to relying upon loot.

I'm trying to figure out on what planet you live to think Pikemen are on par with other professions in PvP. Two days ago I got in a large brawl where seven Imperials and pets(strangely without an AT-ST or six) came up knocking at our door, while I'm not a PvP freak I never say no to a good challenge so we formed up the whole four of us and went out to meet them, first button I hit is Polearm Sweep 2, wham, five out of the seven drop while the other two start shooting, then I proceed to hit the second button Polearm Area Attack 2, wham, three get dizzy, one of their pets gets downed and I feel nice about being a Pikeman, at that moment I glance at my HAM bars and gape, I'm left with 200 health and 150 action, two get up and join up shooting me, farewell arms.

We all know that PvE is a whole other issue but even there without some good buffs/drinks/food, we're bound to go down eventually. Incidentally I tanked a Canyon Krayt yesterday for ten whole minutes with nothing but the Composite, a powerboost and some brandy before it decided to hit armor hole twice and send me to kingdom come.

There are two ways to do this, we can either accept we'll always be for PvE only, ask to get some better AoEs and avoid PvP like the plague, or we can keep on complaining about the, admitedly sad in some aspects, state of our proffession and see it get fixed (eventually) into something proper. Remember that the proper way to compare two proffessions is with their bare minimum stats not with tapes or attachments or special loots. Show me a Pikeman with a crafted LVA that can beat a Swordsman with a crafted PH and I'll start reconsidering.

PS: About the AP changes mentioned, hell I couldn't agree more, how a sword can go through armor with the same ease a huge and heavy weapon like the LVA can is beyond me. The simple lance is a pain without AP and the VLs get wasted with AP1 since in most cases you opt for the bonus in AP disregarding vulnerabilities and/or resistances.

Arahgellos buddy, could you pick a different font?

The one you use is really hard to read.

Please.

Actually, we're one of the best hybrid professions out there. Let me just say, that it's a good thing our hybridization includes 80% composite, buffs and looted weapons, otherwise we'd be incredibly lacking competence-wise.

In fact, just today I soloed an AT-ST. Sure, I utilized the hybrid branches of our profession (armor, and buffs... apparently I'm not a master yet because I don't have looted weapons), but I also relied heavily upon a secret part of our profession called the ATST-is-stuck-in-a-wall-quick-kill-it part.

/sarcasm off

I can stand our speed. (I've got skill tapes) But I cannot tolerate our HAM and our x3 hit3 move w/ a busted posture change. We are a borked profession, and we need to be fixed. There's no question about it, and those who disagree are NOT pure pikemen. (Neither am I, but all I have is TKA meditate, Doc, and pikeman) Pure pikeman, as a profession as a whole, doesn't suck, but gets close. In PvP, it does suck, however. Well, unless you're a GTEF monkey (yeah, I am), or are the hybridization I referred to above. Pure pikeman w/ regular weapons and no buffs/no armor is probably only marginally better than tailor as a PvP profession.
