I just got my Master Pikeman this weekend and at least on Valcyn we're a rare breed. I was often the only pikeman of any level on the adventure planets, looking for training, and when I was in Corellia or Theed at the busiest I saw two other pikeman, not Masters yet.

I've been heavy swords for a while, had some nice high 600s power hammers....then got my hands on a 3.0 210-818 LVA. Needless to say, i'm grinding up pikeman now

well i'm only hear because of the blue cube but when you guys do hit you hit for way more than heavy sword did so your going to get the PvE intrest soon or later, just need to work out that accuracy problem you seem to have not master yet so maybe it would change with that.

I pvp daily as pikeman, I'm located on lowca, each time I kill someone in coronet or theed I have people that surround me and Oooooh, and Awwww at me saying Oh my gosh, A pikeman killed someone!! People are starting to notice us, and lowca has many many more Master Pikemans running around than approx 2 months ago were we had all Master Combad Medics and / or Rifleman.
I quite enjoy the proffession, But I will not be FOTM.... I won't stand for it, no no no no you can't have us GO AWAY!

Quick question from a pikeman who isnt versed in mmo speak, what does FOTM mean? Forgive my unknowingness if this offends any of you.

As long as we don't have a lance that does stun dmg we will never be FOTM.
If the devs ever institute a stun dmg lance our numbers will grow by the thousands and for some odd reason even though nothing has changed for us since launch the self appointed "keepers of balance" will all of a sudden come upon the revelation that we are overpowered.

The DOTs, as mentioned, are the problem. I fought a Pikeman/Melee stacker yesterday, and he put 8 stackeable mind DOTs on me of fire, poison and disease. Then he Warcry 2ed me, and sat back and watched. On our server, he's known as the Ghetto CM. I am a melee stacker myself, but had no chance against him. He's an in-game pal, but I wouldn't waste my time trying to fight someone as effective as a CM, but with all the melee defenses and attacks.

yup without the 600 power poison dots and 900 damage pikes the min-max hard core pvp set wouldn't touch pikeman with a 10 foot pole (no pun inteded rofl)

I saw 5 Master Pikemen at the Coronet Starport. 5 MASTERS! That doesn't even include the various other Sentinels/Foot Soldiers I saw. About 11 Pikemen in total. 3 people in my guild are going pike after seeing what I can do at some of our guild hunts and they hear about the loot I get. I just wish they would understand that it took me nearly 3 months to get 4/2/4/4.

FOTM = Flavor Of The Month... basically, whatever the most popular profession is at any given time for any number of reasons (usually extreme power in either PvE or PvP)

Lol Wulf'gar, yep Emo. But once the combat revamp comes into play, and DOTs get revamped too, he'll move on to something else.
