Thread: Your thoughts on upcoming Armor Balance

I've spent the past several days killing every Nightsister I find, groups and all (excluding elders) without any buffs. I take some brandy and have some stims available and use autoattack and specials like area2 and lunge2 on occasion when I need them. Because of my armor, I can do this all day long. Buffs just make it go faster because I'm using specials constantly.

well, once the witches get their force powers back I think you might have more trouble doing that. ![]()
I think buffs and armor both are a problem. If you limited the amount of buffs, at the very least secondary buffs, then some of the super duper armor would become unwearable. This seems like the best solution and here is why. If they try to "nerf" armor, what will they do with existing armor? Unless they put in a max cap of something like 60% to resists, and go in and nerf all existing armor, otherwise old-school armorsmiths with stockpiled schematics will dominate the market. Or a person would just go out and stockpile as much of the good armor as possible.
Seems like adjusting secondary buffs would be the easiest solution. Then a person shouldn't be able to wear a full suit of the uber stuff at once, although I'm not sure how much armor is truly necessary in PvE, I never wear leggings anymore.
But if they decided to go the nerf armor route, then I hope they would also nerf all existing armor as well. But I still believe there should be a penalty for wearing armor, and the devs have decided that penalty was supposed to come from HAM costs and HAM regen rates, but with buffs the way they are, these are completely bypassed. Maybe they could make the HAM costs a percentage reduction, or give armor different negatives, slower movement, slower attack rate, etc.

It's unusual that this was never in place to begin with. Or an armor class / profession requisite system. They seem to be starting the class system with the introduction of the Mando armor.
If they do make changes to armor, they should make the 'other' armor types more viable. Every armorsmith out there is probably bored to death of doing factory run after factory run of only two types of armor.
