I'm a Wookiee, so I can't wait!
"I shalltake Balloons for $800, if you please."
"That's not a category."
"My mistake, I shall choose Balloons for $600!"

Of course it would be better if there was more to it than just using one or two specials. I know I personally have to switch between weapons and usually between area2, lunge2, action2, lh3, sweep1, sweep2, ph3 depending on the situation. I have no need to ever use any of the other specials, but I never can just use ph3 over and over. So, I know ranged can usually just use one or two specials most of the time, but melee fighting seems to be more dynamic as a rule. Having to use autoattack in PvP would be horrendous.

I normally dont like posting anything else in other profession forums because it's like trying to tell a bunch of kindgarteners about the effects of their cries of nerfing. I like posting here and the Ranger forums cause the majority of the players posting on these forums are mature. (Aside from the occasional, "UBER LVA for auction 10-198 damage, reserve set at $Texas)
I honestly think the next two publishes are going to greatly affect this game, and for the most part I think that's a good thing. Armor needs to be dealt with. I am an armorsmith and I know that armor is out of control. I dont even have to think about encumberance at all when crafting, and WS no longer have to worry about HAM costs either cause everyone is buffed to the max and HAM costs dont matter.
I am very anxious to see what the developers are going to do with these publishes. It could make or break this game, so I understand why they are taking their time.
You've just hit the nail on the head of the biggest problem with these forums. Many people IMO are unable to properly identify a problem.
IMO armor is not the problem. Buffs are. Composite armor in its current form is very balanced armor. It's highly protective and very very heavy. If you are unbuffed and you are even able to wear a full suit of compositeyou are regulated to normal shots only since specials will drain your HAM too rapidly and you will not regen any HAM because your secondaries are so low. Most species besides humans cannot wear a full suit of advanced composite unbuffed unless it's totally sliced for encumberance. I have a rodian who has a full suit of advanced composite totally sliced for encumberance. I need to buffed to wear it sincea rodiansmax constitution is only 400 unbuffed.
It follows the thinking of TKA VK HAM costs. VK's have very high HAM costs on purpose because the devs intended them to be primarily for regular attacks only. They intended for TKA's to remove their VK's to execute specials. Before buffs were the norm HAM costs were a big complaint for the TKA's and that is what the devs response was.
If armor's effectiveness is nerfed then what good will it be? We need armor in its current highly protective state. Something has to able to withstand the blast from a rancor at point blank range. If armor will not properly and adequately protect you from the hits of the high end mobs then frankly what good is it?
Armor is not the problem. It's balanced and protective. Buffs are the problem. We don't solo uber high end content because of armor. . . we solo uber high end content because of doc buffs. Armor is simply enhanced by doc buffs because buffs totally negate HAM costs and armor encumberance. Who cares if that full suit of uber 90% base 40% stun composite is so heavy that you need a crane to put it on? As soon as your secondaries get buffed to 2400 it will feel as light as a feather.
I challenge everyone who complains the game is too easy to spend the next week playing without doc buffs.

While hunting I use encumbrance sliced 72% ubese, works great for melee pve. For pvp, I use a mix of encumbrance (helm) and effectiveness sliced composite, but only gloves, boots, chest and helm. I can equip any of my armor and use it unbuffed (with some foods of course to offset ham use). I play a lot unbuffed and do well, unless taking on a Rancor lair, in which case you need to be buffed. Even do some pvp unbuffed (except food and spice of course) and do amazingly well sometimes.
But, 90% resist composite is a little nuts really, was a master carboneer for a while and gotta tell you, some targets you can hit all day and you will never kill them even with a nice carbine do to buffs and 90% armor, its crazy. Even if they just loward the max cap on any armor down to 80 or 75%(except super rare looted armor, or hard to make armor such as RIS) that would make a huge difference.
