Thread: Should we get serious about asking for an AOE bleed

the current state of affairs with the AoE stuff is a little saddening indeed. A swordsman's strong point is supposed to be damage, a pikeman's the ability to attack multiple targets succesfully. So why do we swordsmen get 3 area attacks, 2 spin attacks and 2 sweeps? (note that area attack 3 is the only one really worth using, area attack 1 only for it's cool animation, the other 5 are pointless)

Swordsmendo more damage as far as I know, and that's how it should be. But Pikemen should definately get better AoE attacks, I reckon one at least as powerful as area attack 3 (possibly 2, to keep the damage with swordsman), but also things like an area leg attack, area stun perhaps.

I'd much rather have an area attack with a 20 m range. Or one with a massive (4x) damage hit. Bleeds are overrated, especially now. And since ours would be to action, I would fail to see the point. If PvP is your focus and you are Master or near Master, you would be better using the areattack of your choice while using your mind poison lance/axe/stick/pole/whatever, and then switching to your main weapon. HotKeys and macros are a pikemans best friend. Use them wisely.

I'm going to /agree with this one too.

exactly

we have a big long pole, why should our spin attacks and knockdowns have the same range as unarmed?

If we're going with that logic, then why can't we HIT ANYTHING with our big long pole?

Well to be honest I hadn't had a bleed attack since the patch. I just got actionhit1 last night and tried it out and was surprised that it was killing things instead of bleeding them. Coming from TKA (a profession with no bleeds) I was surprised to see how they work now.

Ohhhhh but I like the4x AOE hit and a AOE leg hit. . .nice.

Well to one up the swordsmen we do get an AOE knockdown and they have zero knockdowns. . . of course with knockdowns useless in PvE without warcry and warcry getting (ahem) "enhanced" does that move lose some of it's usefullness as well?

Somewhat, yeah. Creatures and NPCs don't stay down long after a KD without warcry, I'm sure you know that. Sweep2 is the only defining, unique special we have, but I don't want that one move to be the only reason to be a pikeman. It's not cool to be outclasses by so many other professions, especially in the area where we are supposed to shine.

Personally, I prefer the idea of anarea Intimidate. Area Bleed used to be #1 on my list, but I'm not convinced bleeds are ever going to be returned to their former glory.
