I always just used that strategy. As to date no ranged person has beaten me in a fight as a pikeman doc

Poison Spike has been nerfed if you have a pre nerf Poison Spike you are the man....

No ranged person has beaten me in a duel!!
But on the other hand i havent beaten one either - the smuggler root..its insane, it lasts so much longer then the pistoleer root and as soon as it wears off the smuggler can apply it again. Beat that and tell me how you did it.
With CoB and heals i can stand there all day, but thats about all i can do - ill pick up a rifle and see if can entertain meself plinking lousy shots on the rooter and watch it getting healed away when i have come somewhere.
Using terrain wont really work in a duel (where i experienced this) - the ranged person will never ever follow you into a house or similar. Once i managed to burtsrun and lunge the smuggler, but guess what? As soon as the person got up (it takes about 2 seconds to get up) i was rooted again =D
Anything with smuggler root in, is very near unbeatable if they know what they're doing.

Smuggler root is very powerful, but at least they can't take pot shots at you. It sure drags out the fight though, if they have Doc or CM they can do a lot of heals/buffs/debuus and not break the root.

I'm Master Pikeman / Master Doc.
I must admit it's very difficult to win in a 1vs1 fight if the enemy is a ranged with rooting attacks. In large scale battle the secret is to use surroundings: never attack in open spaces, just remain hidden behind a wall, a rock, stay prone in a hole and wait your target come closer.When I'm in close combat first I try to decrease enemy's accuracy, and ifI'mrooted : center of being to reduce damage, and bacta shot heal myself. Oviously I'm always buffed, and I've the personal shield generator activated.
Long range rooters are probably the most dangerous opponent, exspecially in 1vs1 duels, but with a little bit of strategy they're not impossibile to take down

I just want to say im not crying for a nerf here, no way, im normly a ranged guy, with pistoleer root and i think it makes sense, if a melee guy reaches me im toast.
But the smugglers concussion shot (?) their root, its really really evil. Smugglers ARE supposed to be this fantastic so good for them. However, there should be some kind of cure (for PvP) where i could shorten the root at least. The scenario i describe, where the smuggler applied a new root as soon as the old one vanished will cause trouble in the future (for the smugglers).

currently the smuggler root is bugged, it is spossed to be like the attack "paralyze" in cm, but lasts longer (if the person who is rooted takes damage, the root goes away)
Otherwise... thedrink that adds 100 to ranged defense, improved cob, and improved bacta infusion, the only thing I can do is laugh at my enemy

Apply CoB andBacta Infustion, wait out the root, then go beat them down with armor break, KD, impale, leghit, impale, leghit, etc...
Honestly, melee vs ranged is the easiest matchup you'll face.
