gotta go with the scythe, to compete a melee point blank/ideal range P'up is necessary for the pike if all other things equal. then they slap a min damage P'up on and...

It doesn't matter how many people are in the other group, only the person in that group who does the highest amount of damage counts toward looting rights. So you're still only beating the dmg of a single swordsman...

it is more staragy then damage when you going to fight acklay and a swordman is there you let him hit frist
so he cant tank then he intmadated and stun so his damage will be less and then thats all plues it always worked for me

i have a 1169max LVA, am speed capped, and have a +25 accuracy AA in my belt and outdamage every swordsman

An average LVA is a piece of junk compared to an average scythe.
Extremely rare high-damage looted LVAs are better than crafted weapons of lower damage.
The scythe is the strongest kinetic weapon in the game. If scythes dropped like polearms they'd be uniformly better. For that matter, if 2-handed cleavers dropped like polearms they'd be better.

i agree BUT thats the reason pikes drop and thats the reason there are so many nice looted damage pikes and DOT pikes around in order to balance pikeman because right now the profession is pretty broken.

But thanks to the DoTs and looted weapon proliferation the whole damn game (and especially PvP) is broken. Meh.

I don't see it as an intentional balancing method for pikemen, personally. I believe we just got "lucky" and Nightsisters were given polearms in their loot tables. They could just have easily been given swords or clothing or more of those great cargo pockets and we'd still represent 0.25 % of the playerbase like we did before all the loot insanity.
Hmm, that was totally off-topic wasn't it? Time to shut up before I start ranting about the evils of loot.

either way intentional or not (i think intentional) pikeman is a broken profession and vs a melee stacker (i am a defense stacked pikeman) you cant win without dots.
im both eager for it to come out and nervous about the CU since it will be a whole diff game. and i really hope the devs balance everything as promised and dont just f*** stuff up worse heh

theres so many variables when trying to out damage someone especially on something like like acklay who intimidates..... first off if you dont have doc and the swords has doc he's gonna win hands down becuase he heals his intimidate and doesn't have the neer half damage reduction you will have....... also theres the speed thing involved.... surley you were both speed capped no? then there's accuracy which if your not capped on accuracy attachments you tend to miss alot w/ pikeman especially since the acklay blinds.... then like everyone else said theres the min/max difference b/t scythe and an lva..... in the end however, i beleive if you have the best of the best swordsman vs the best of the best pikeman..... the pikeman should win fairly easy......
