congrats soe.
This post is more of a rant over Holocrons and how they effect the FSCS.....I am also a Holocron pikeman and I cant stand it....nothing against those that like it but I never wanted to do any melee class (although I knew I would have tofor the slot).
The fact that we have to give up our chosen professions to master something we are not at all interested in makes me sick. I have mastered several professions, all of which I chose and enjoyed playing out. Nobody should have to do something they have no interest in.
The fact that the Pikeman profession is SOOOOOO flawed makes getting this profession that much harder to swallow. Its not an insult to existing pikeman its just someone's opinion, it just happens to be the majority opinion when it comes to the SWG community.....remember the stats on professions.......more novice chefs than novice pikeman.
dude! having to master PikeMan is NOT a reason to quit playing! If you feel the profession is so broken you have to quit playing because you've been "forced" to get its master title, then I cannot feel nothing but sorry for you. I hope your next holocron tells you to "The Jedi limit for this galaxy has been reached, you will not be able to unlock your FSCS"

I think a lot of people, including some who play pikeman, underestimate the abilities of the class. It's not nearly so bad. Has issues? Unquestionably. Broken beyond belief? No.
antares
master pikeman
good thing there is no jedi limit huh? besides it wouldnt be fair for jedi limit while we have to master 450 450 450 150 proffessions people like my brother get an easy, master brawler, scout, DE, and doctor crafters can for sure beat a melee class in leveling, Ie: my friend masterd DE in 5 hours, fastest i seen a melee class masterd was 4 days. therefore its not fair to cap jedi, in which they wont, my possition rather special, just finished a 450 450 450 150 and jsut got a second 450 450 450 150, how lucky is that? (TKM then Pikeman)
TKM was my choice though
I'm a new Holo Pikeman and I'm having a great time. It's not an easy profession, but mastering Bounty Hunter pre-nerf wasn't easy either. It requires new tactics, new procedures, and a new attitude. Overall, I'd say the first lesson I've learned about pikeman is to be patient and do your homework. I started Polearms 5 days ago and now I'm a 0/0/2/2 Pikeman. If nothing else, the animations of he specials are really cool and I celebrate every time I get a Knock Down – hehe.
VipE, I think it's great that you want to be a Jedi in game - that's definitely you choice and a worthwhile thing to pursue. I noticed that besides Commando and Marksman, your mastered professions are all crafting types. Was crafting your preference before the whole holo thing, or were you Master Commando and then decided or were told to do a bunch of crafting professions?
Anyway, I must say that making people master professions that they will probably not like is a sick sort of genius on the SOE Management’s part (I know we always refer to the developers, but they don’t make decisions, they write code – the product team and designers make these types of decisions). The whole multi-profession mechanic provides another barrier between the average player and the FS slot. Many people will never give up their favorite profession to pursue the FS slot - which works out well in providing yet another aspect to keep the Jedi community small.
Most people don't like it, but from a SOE Management point of view, it's a part of the grander scheme to make the FS slots relatively rare (although they are being opened quite a lot).
Anyway, welcome to Pikeman and good luck. I'm sorry, but you won't be able to use a macro to grind out this profession on the way to FS – you will have to actually be at your keyboard and play.
